Salene:Tucking Flower and Willow in

Apr 04, 2005 06:40

Salene left Flower and Willow in the back of the Extra Cafe, walking quickly past everyone as she headed for the stairs. Tears were stinging her eyes, the last thing she wanted was to let the girls see her cry over what they'd said. It wasn't their fault she was upset, they were children, they had said what was on their minds, and if there was ( Read more... )

"No," Willow stopped her, grasping the hand that she was still holding, "I'd, I mean, if you don't mind, I'd like help brushing my hair. It's so long and, and Anna did it, and I wouldn't know how to take it down," she told her honestly. She felt shy, meek, about this, unsure of what to say, what was right and wrong, what to do. "If, if you just sit here, I'll change," Willow picked up the pajamas and turned around, waiting silently for Salene to unzip her dress before walking around the large bed and quickly changing into the pajama set.

Handing the dress to her, Willow shrugged, "I don't, I don't know what to do with it, I mean, I guess I should put it back," she took the dress from Salene and carefully laid it over the chair next to the door. She'd have to be sure to put it back in the closet. Willow had no real use for a fancy dress, and just in case anyone needed it later, well it'd be there then.

Turning back around, Willow smiled at Salene before grabbing the brush from the dresser and taking a seat next to Salene on the bed, pulling her knees up towards her chest and wrapping her arms around her legs. She groaned as this simple act made her stomach hurt so bad, it felt so tight, or something, what was wrong with her? "Salene? I...think I'm sick or something," she began, worried, a little bit afraid.

Salene looked up as Willow said no, wondering what she was about to protest. A wave of relief washed through Salene as she said she'd appreciate the help with her hair, and Salene simply nodded, a happier smile replacing the look on her face, broadening to a real smile. She kept her part of the bargain and, after unzipping the dress for her, waited as Willow changed behind her.

Being handed the dress confused Salene, and she tilted her head, didn't Willow know it was her dress now? But she took it back and laid it so gently on the chair, and Salene couldn't help but smile more. "You can keep it, if you like it, but I guess you're right, we don't have a lot of use for fancy dresses around here really. Besides, you're still growing, you'll grow out of it before we get a chance to use it again," Salene took the brush and adjusted herself so she was sitting sideways, carefully pulling hair pin after hair pin from the structure until it fell apart.

"Just tell me if I pull to hard," she offered, pulling the two hair ties from the brush handle before beginning carefully. She started at the bottom, holding the rest of her very long hair in her hands to alleviate any snags she might come across. She had barely begun when Willow groaned and said she was sick. Eyebrows furrowed together, eyes darkened, concern washed across her face, "How do you mean?"

Willow tried to think of how she meant exactly, "Well, my stomach has been hurting really bad all day, like, down here," her hand moved to just below her belly button, laying her palm flat against her stomach. "I've been so mad all day, and feeling just, just sick I guess, kind of tired? I keep being mean to everyone, and then I just want to cry. And like I can normally pull my legs to my chest like this," she tried again but was foiled by the full feeling of her stomach again, and the pain. "But see? It hurts, kinda, like it's full or something, and, I don't know, I just feel so..fat," she guessed, not that she knew what fat really felt like. It kind of reminded her of the way she felt after she'd been in the box at the Chosen camp, but she didn't know if that had anything to do with it.

"My head hurts, I just want to sleep the day away," she explained, sighing pathetically. "What's wrong with me? Do, should I go to the doctor? We have one here, don't we? I, I just didn't know who else to talk to about this, and if it's not serious I don't want to bug the doctor, but, I've never felt this bad before, and I've felt pretty bad before," she sighed, closing her eyes as the hair brushing was kind of soothing, bracing herself for the worlds worst news.

Flower came down the stairs half as enthusiastically as she normally would have been, passing by the weird girl with her eyes closed, Tai-San or something, and taking one last long look at the decorations before walking into the room. I've never felt this bad before, and I've felt pretty bad before, greeted her and she looked slightly sleepy and mostly curious. "What do you feel bad about? About the way you've been a total grouch all day? Cause she has," Flower nodded and shook her head, then bounced over and picked up her pajamas.

"Can I be next? With the brushing? I really like the curls but, but I want to be next," she nodded enthusiastically and turned to have her dress unzipped. Once that was done, she was completely not modest about changing in front of both of them, discarding her cute dress on top of Willow's in a bit of a heap and kicking off her party shoes. Pulling the frog pajamas on, Flower moved around the bed and bounced onto it, sitting cross legged next to the two of them but facing their sides, leaning back against her hands and watching. "What'cha talkin about? Bein a grouch?"
