Married to the Mob//BYOA

The small bar was empty despite its location just off a busy street in the nightclub district of the city. The doorway was discreet and classy enough to draw in any number of curious stares and every now and then someone would drift closer for a look before suddenly scurrying away again. It would have confused anyone not from the city since if they ( Read more... )

Mob Boss CC? sex4pizza January 2 2012, 18:29:04 UTC
With a slow, languid sip of her drink (something bright blue that defied indentification) CC looked around the bar, boredom in her eyes as she looked for new recruits, listened for business opportunities, and generally hobknobbed. She was usually pretty good at it, else she wouldn't have her position as one of the most dangerous leaders in the city, but tonight her attention was mostly elsewhere.

Until her eyes fell on the young girl playing chess in the corner. The gears of her mind turned as she recognized her face and tried to place it. Who was she...?

Nunnally, her mind supplied, but the name didn't help her figure out why the girl was important, though CC was certain she was. Irritated by her inability to recall, she ended up staring straight at the girl for several long moments with a frown on her face without realizing it.

I thought she already was a mob boss... <3 myaodesu January 2 2012, 19:48:19 UTC
Nunnally felt a set of eyes on her after a minute or two and glanced up with wide eyes. She hadn't realised that she'd been staring at the board for so long and immediately got up to make her way across the room, smiling at a table of youngsters calling for her to join them, and paused by C.C's table while leaning against her cane. The result of a drive-by shooting when she was a girl, and perhaps the reason nobody wanted to misbehave around her. It was all fun and games until everyone's 'cute little sister' got hurt.

"Would you like another Blue Lagoon, Miss C.C?" Nunnally asked curiously. Those amber eyes could usually make a person squirm under their direct focus, but Nunnally found them to be quite pretty and enjoyed the opportunity to see them a bit closer.

Close enough, at least. sex4pizza January 2 2012, 23:35:42 UTC
The cane was what reminded her. Just a girl who'd been in the wrong place at the wrong time, as far as anyone knew, and yet, after the incident, she'd somehow gotten to be a part of everyone's life around here. It was strange, given the usual attitude of the thugs and lowlifes who made this place home, but nearly everyone who visited this bar seemed to regard her with respect and even a certain reserved affection. C.C. sometimes had wondered in the past if there wasn't more to the girl, and that one particular "big brother" who doted on her, than met the eye.

Well, no time like the present to find out. "That would be lovely." She answered, her face shifting easily into her most pleasant smile. "There's no other place around here where I can get one of these made decently."

Nunnally nodded and made her way back behind the bar, mixing a new glass of practically glowing blue concoction. She could feel C.C still watching her for some reason that she couldn't quite guess yet. A lot of the underlings watched her while the bosses tended to ignore her after a few minutes. She wasn't interested in all of the maneuvering that went on in the booths, but she did care about the people. If she had been anything like her older brother she'd be a terrifying 'Nee-san', but she really did tend to be too soft-hearted.

Instead, she helped run the neutral bar and was whispered about behind her back as being suspiciously close to her brother. Sibling love could be a dangerous thing in some places. So far nobody had gotten around to mentioning those rumors to Nunnally it seemed.

C.C.'d only heard those particular rumors once, largely because she very much discouraged loose talk among her subordinates. If she wanted gossip, she went to the bars, and she usually didn't put much stock in them.

Still, there were occasionally grains of truth in them.... And the girl ought to know quite a few. Well, why not try it?

"And if you wouldn't mind, when you're finished, I could use something decent in the way of conversation."

If anyone heard her, she could pass it off as a joke. Or just troll them. It all depended on what she felt like.

Nunnally tilted her head curiously, unsure of the reason behind the request but it wasn't as if she was going to refuse. Instead, she came back a minute later with C.C's drink as well as a cup of steaming tea for herself while another girl took over watching the bar. Nunnally smiled hesitantly, unsure of C.C's intentions.

"Was there something on your mind?"
