Married to the Mob//BYOA

The small bar was empty despite its location just off a busy street in the nightclub district of the city. The doorway was discreet and classy enough to draw in any number of curious stares and every now and then someone would drift closer for a look before suddenly scurrying away again. It would have confused anyone not from the city since if they ( Read more... )

Mob Boss CC? sex4pizza January 2 2012, 18:29:04 UTC
With a slow, languid sip of her drink (something bright blue that defied indentification) CC looked around the bar, boredom in her eyes as she looked for new recruits, listened for business opportunities, and generally hobknobbed. She was usually pretty good at it, else she wouldn't have her position as one of the most dangerous leaders in the city, but tonight her attention was mostly elsewhere.

Until her eyes fell on the young girl playing chess in the corner. The gears of her mind turned as she recognized her face and tried to place it. Who was she...?

Nunnally, her mind supplied, but the name didn't help her figure out why the girl was important, though CC was certain she was. Irritated by her inability to recall, she ended up staring straight at the girl for several long moments with a frown on her face without realizing it.

Nunnally felt a set of eyes on her after a minute or two and glanced up with wide eyes. She hadn't realised that she'd been staring at the board for so long and immediately got up to make her way across the room, smiling at a table of youngsters calling for her to join them, and paused by C.C's table while leaning against her cane. The result of a drive-by shooting when she was a girl, and perhaps the reason nobody wanted to misbehave around her. It was all fun and games until everyone's 'cute little sister' got hurt.

"Would you like another Blue Lagoon, Miss C.C?" Nunnally asked curiously. Those amber eyes could usually make a person squirm under their direct focus, but Nunnally found them to be quite pretty and enjoyed the opportunity to see them a bit closer.

Close enough, at least. sex4pizza January 2 2012, 23:35:42 UTC
The cane was what reminded her. Just a girl who'd been in the wrong place at the wrong time, as far as anyone knew, and yet, after the incident, she'd somehow gotten to be a part of everyone's life around here. It was strange, given the usual attitude of the thugs and lowlifes who made this place home, but nearly everyone who visited this bar seemed to regard her with respect and even a certain reserved affection. C.C. sometimes had wondered in the past if there wasn't more to the girl, and that one particular "big brother" who doted on her, than met the eye.

Well, no time like the present to find out. "That would be lovely." She answered, her face shifting easily into her most pleasant smile. "There's no other place around here where I can get one of these made decently."

Nunnally nodded and made her way back behind the bar, mixing a new glass of practically glowing blue concoction. She could feel C.C still watching her for some reason that she couldn't quite guess yet. A lot of the underlings watched her while the bosses tended to ignore her after a few minutes. She wasn't interested in all of the maneuvering that went on in the booths, but she did care about the people. If she had been anything like her older brother she'd be a terrifying 'Nee-san', but she really did tend to be too soft-hearted.

Instead, she helped run the neutral bar and was whispered about behind her back as being suspiciously close to her brother. Sibling love could be a dangerous thing in some places. So far nobody had gotten around to mentioning those rumors to Nunnally it seemed.

Before Nunally started working in the club, Cornelia had only ever gone there for business. She was just a little too serious, and a little too busy with family affairs - Cornelia has become an important enforcer in their business. Wouldn't want to lose that edge.

Yet when she'd heard that her little half-sister had started spending time there, wanting a way to help out, her appearances became more and more common. She pushed through the doorway, unbuttoning her suit jacket and loosening her tie a little, though not so much that she'd look sloppy to anyone who happened across them. "He's a difficult opponent, isn't he?" It had to be her brother's match, of course.

Nunnally looked up when the door opened and brightened when it was Cornelia that entered. She hadn't really expected anyone for another few hours since there was evidently some sort of game or show going on that evening, but the interruption was a welcome one.

"Cornelia-neesan!" Nunnally always enjoyed it when one of her older siblings stopped in even if it was just for a few minutes. Especially Cornelia since she had so little free time. Nunnally looked back at the game with a small laugh. "I'm glad he doesn't go easy on me like he used to, but it's a little bit frustrating when I still lose in under twenty moves." Still, Nunnally had improved quite a bit to no longer lose in under 10 moves. But that was one reason she preferred to work at the neutral bar rather than take on family business just yet, Nunnally was even less ruthless and cunning than a katagi. Nunnally moved away from the board and closer to her half-sister and started fishing out a bottle of the usual wine she preferred from under the counter.

Cornelia, in turn, smiled at Nunally. She was glad to be a pleasant surprise for her half-sister - she avoided social events if there wasn't going to be any business, or anyone worth making connections with, so she was happier to be here anyways.

"Nunally..." Sighing, and rolling her shoulders, she made her way over, looking more closely at the match. While Nunally was just as intelligent as the rest of the family, she didn't have that edge that others, like Cornelia herself, possessed. "Sometimes I don't do any better against Schneizel, even now, you know."

It was quite evident what had gone wrong with the game, once again Nunnally had been unwilling to sacrifice pieces in order to win. Nunnally giggled softly as she came back up with the right bottle and uncorked it. It would take a few minutes for it to air out enough so the young woman sat on her stool again. "Though I'm sorry to hear that, it does make me feel a little bit better," Nunnally admitted with a smile.

Unsuspecting patrons of the bar would never see Sayoko there, but it wasn't because she was absent in her duties to watch over the boss's sister Nunnally. She was stealthy, posing as an unassuming maid most days but also hiding in plain sight using masks to play as others including Lelouch himself. He had to be the one who played that last move.

Wearing the costume in which she often attended school when Lelouch was unavailable, she strolled over to the table and studied the board. Fortunately she understood the basics, but she'd never won a game yet against either sibling. "That's quite a decision you have."

Nunnally looked up and then broke into a warm smile at the ninja, immediately able to tell that her 'brother' was actually Sayoko. It wasn't that Sayoko wasn't convincing as Lelouch to most people, far from it actually. It was more that Nunnally's ears could tell the difference just from the sound of their footsteps. "Onii-sama!" She greeted anyways just in case. It was easy to see that she'd lost the game due to her lack of ability to sacrifice pieces. "I didn't expect you to come tonight, but nobody's upstairs if you wanted to go up there instead?" The 'upstairs' was a private booth mainly reserved for private meetings between the bosses, but because of that there was a level of privacy that would allow Sayoko to unmask herself if she wanted.

She did have a way of making Lelouch seem lighter on his feet, not to mention more acrobatic. He always seemed a little lanky. Maybe he wasn't getting enough vitamins? Sayoko made a note to check upon that later. Just because he was a big important person didn't mean he could slack off on proper nutrition.

"Ah, I was just about to suggest the same thing," she said, turning away from the chess board. "I trust the elevator is working properly this evening?" Not that she minded carrying Nunnally up the stairs, but she didn't want to make the girl feel awkward about it.

Kuja had never visited this bar before, but it couldn't hurt to try new places. She sauntered in, wearing a low-cut violet dress, as she smiled at the patrons. The bluenette then noticed a young woman playing with a chess set with a focused look on her face.

Curious, she walked over to her. "Hello. Pardon me for interrupting, but what are you doing?"

Nunnally looked up at the unfamiliar voice and blinked a few times when the face didn't bring about any recognition either. She was really pretty even without the enticing dress, and even the table of dicers had paused to watch her curiously. Nunnally wondered if the woman was looking for a job.

"It's chess!" She replied with a hesitant smile. "And... I think I lost."

"Yes, but why are you playing by yourself, dear?" She queried. It really wasn't her place to pry, but Kuja had a thing for strategy games, and chess was one fo them. "It's more fun if someone plays with you~"
