bodyguard duty // high aphro

The night had worn on, slowly and surely, and Rude was growing more and more bored as he stood outside the hotel door. It had been yet another day on bodyguard duty, following around his current female client on her daily routine, a silent pair of eyes and an effective pair of fists ready to defend her against whomever might be around to make ( Read more... )

Usagi hadn't minded having him outside. At least at first. Her bodyguard was stoic and quiet; a hulking man in a tailored suit and sunglasses. Needless to say, she'd been intimidated all day and found the escape of her room to be much needed by the time they'd arrived. But, really, after five hours of him being rooted out in the hall, she found herself feeling more bad than nervous.

Cue the door cracking open, a single blue eye blinking out before the rest of her emerged.

"Um . . . would you like anything?"

Rude's head turned, taking her in just as stoically as he did anything else: the client this time was certainly a pretty girl, if with a questionable hairstyle, and he'd found those sunglasses very useful in examining every inch of her throughout the day. She was even thoughtful, if now was any indication. Rude paused for a few moment before nodding, just once.

"Drink'd be good," he said. "Parched."

"Right!" Usagi chirped, pigtails-a-flying as she swiftly turned to fetch him something nice and cold. Those footsteps soon halted, though, because of two very important reasons that just as quickly brought the blonde back out. Her cheeks were only a little flushed.

"Forgot to ask what sort of drink you wanted," she paused. "And, well, you've been standing here so long. Would you like to come inside and sit down for a bit?"

That was about par for the course for her- anyone else might have smiled, and though he felt internal amusement at her actions, Rude's face might as well have been carved from stone. He took one last glance around the hall before stepping in, flicking the lock shut behind him, moving to sit heavily down onto the couch. A bourbon sounded like absolute heaven, but he'd already been through her minibar, checking for poisoned things- best to stay safe.

"Whatever you have."

About that intimidation . . . but, no. He was doing her a great service and the least she could offer in return was some common comfort. There was an obvious awkwardness in the way Usagi moved to the kitchenette, though, and how she smiled once they were face to face again.

"Here," she said, stopping a few inches short of the sofa. "Thought you might like something with flavor. It's orange juice."

Asking him to turn down the intimidation would, unfortunately, be like asking him to stop being tall. But he seems perfectly content to simply sit as he takes the glass, inclining his head again in a short nod of gratitude. She was young- very young, and the least he could do was contain his urges and take the chance to relax.

"Thanks," he murmured. One jerk of his head indicated the seat next to him, for her to join him and take some weight off. "Sit."

She had to get over it eventually. He was going to be guarding her for some time yet, after all. Usagi didn't want to be like this for the remainder of their time, for both their sake. Then again, as long as he was getting his job done, she couldn't imagine he cared all that much.

Alright. More for her sake, then.

"Okay!" She squeaked, halting the light tugging to the hem of her skirt as her light weight settled beside him. "Thank you, by the way . . . I mean, I know you're getting paid for this, but I do appreciate it."

"Don't worry about it."

He looked her over again, head turned to let his eyes flick up and down, taking her in- she was a shy kid, but alright for the most part. Rude took a long slug of the orange juice, relieved to have his parched throat soothed, before allowing the tiniest of smirks to cross his face.

"Not the worst job."

The smirk was greatly appreciated, however small. It was actually enough to ease some of those nerves and soften the curve of her own lips. So he was capable of expression! Usagi had honestly begun to wonder.

"No?" she asked with a fluttering sort of laugh. "Guess I should try harder?"

The more at ease Usagi was, the better for him- his job became easier, and she became even prettier. He hmm'ed, noncommittal, tilting his head just so to give the matter some thought...or at least feign that he was doing so. She'd been surprisingly compliant thus far, actually: a fact which greatly surprised him.

"Doubt you could make it harder."

He was shot a brief look of mock offense, followed by an even shorter pout. Usagi huffed, leaned back into the plush sofa and gave an almost convincing show of being upset. At this rate, she would be loose in no time.

"I've just been polite so far. Not giving you a rough time, you know?"

"I know. There's still some struggles."

This was his style, breaking things down slowly, subtly enough that she might look back and wonder when she'd gotten that relaxed. For his part, Rude sunk deeper into the very expensive couch, taking another long draught of the juice, letting the cool sensation wind pleasantly down his throat into his stomach. Another look was shot at her, sizing her up, curious for her response as much as anything else.
