It was raining.
It was the first time Hakkai had seen rain outside the windows of the hotel. Of course, he had no idea if the view was a true one thanks to the nature of the hotel, but between the sight of steel gray skies, water sheeting down the cool glass his cheek was pressed against and the sound of soft and constant pattering that meant nightmares to him, it was real enough. If he even bothered to think back, he'd realize he'd never even noticed the window in his room but right now, his mind was far too occupied to think on it.
He sighed and idly glanced down at the condensation his breath had swirled into being on the window. Absently, his hand moved to drag his fingertips through the cool dampness left behind by his warm breath, the sensation chilling far deeper than just his fingers.
Sighing again, he pushed away from the window and padded back towards his bed. He didn't plan on going back to sleep as he knew the rain would just draw him back into another nightmare like the one that had lingered on in his mind after waking in a cold sweat.
While he would never openly admit to missing his companions, right now, he loathed their absence. They knew him well enough to be able to pull him out of the mood the rain seemed to draw him into without being so obvious about it.
