There were some who would wake up in an unfamiliar place and go instantly on the defensive, finding some item to use as a weapon as they traveled about to seek out answers.  Others would relish the new adventure, trying to meet new people and see what this foreign territory really had to offer.  Damon Gant, however, chose neither.

He found the pool ( Read more... )

She didn't know the new pool was occupied.

That was her only excuse for being there, in her old fashioned looking swimsuit and the towel in her hand. Miranda stood there for a moment, watching the older man swim, not wanting to interrupt and had just decided to leave and come back later when he spoke to her, making her almost jump out of her skin.

"Ah! Oh.. I-I'm sorry to have bothered you..? I didn't know the pool was occupied when I came inside here.. I can, I can come back later!" Really, she wasn't used to mixed bathing anyway.

"Nonsense!" Gant beamed, "Why, the only joy greater than swimming is swimming with good company." With that he dipped under the water, popping up a few seconds later at the pool's edge nearest her.

In record time, one might add. This man seriously knew how to swim.

"Come, now! I don't bite, you can rest assured. Why, if you'd prefer, put a muzzle on me, just to be sure!"

There was a tiny squeak of surprise at his swimming prowess. She certainly didn't expect him to be beside her quite that quickly? Miranda also didn't want to seem rude..and he seemed like a nice man..

"Ah..? If you're sure..? I don't want to be a bother or anything. I'm not much of a swimmer at all. I-I might get in your way.." Even as she spoke, she was setting down her towel and moving toward the steps.

"Perish the thought. What's important is that you enjoy yourself, not how good you are! The same thing applies to all walks of life, after all." He drifted slightly, floating on his back as he watched her make her way to the pool's steps.

Splendid.

"I assure you, you will have a wonderful time."

When one lived - or rather existed - as Mia Fey did, there weren't many things that went questioned. As one who knew she no longer belonged on the plane of the living, yet did so, asking questions as to why she was in a certain place at a certain time had long proved unfruitful. She simply was where she was, living, though she knew very well she was on borrowed time.

But there were some things that made one feel alive, even when they knew she should have been quite deceased, and that was swimming. She had long enjoyed the feel of the heated pool here at this crazy place, but what she hadn't anticipated, was the pool already being occupied, especially by a familiar face. Where had she seen this man before?

Mia stopped short, holding the towel to her chest, wondering if she should proceed.

There were very, VERY few things that could snap Gant out of his cheerful swimming mood once he was so far into it; in fact, it's only documented to have happened three times in his entire life! But once in a blue moon, something so unusual would occur that he simply could not ignore it.

And the beautiful-but-deceased Mia Fey's poolside presence was one of them.

His hand lowered slowly, his smile giving way to his deep, piercing stare. No surprise registered on his expression, though he was abundantly baffled at this turn of events. But that was no reason to be rude, right?

It was after fifteen seconds of uncomfortable silence that he spoke.

"Well! I do hope you don't take this the wrong way, but you were one of the last people I expected to see here... or anywhere, for that matter."

She had not been around when the discoveries of Gant's involvement in SL-9 had been revealed, although she had always gotten strange vibrations from the usually-orange clad man. He was an intimidating man--that was apparent-- but Mia had usually stayed clear of him just from her own personal gut feeling.

But if there was something that Mia Fey did well, it was present the best poker face she had to offer. A familiar smile slipped on her lips, her mental guard going up.

"I could say the same, Mr. Gant. It's been a while."

HOW CRUEL~ weallgoswimming June 2 2010, 06:12:15 UTC
A poker face battle suited Gant just fine; hell, he'd fooled the police for years, he certainly knew how to fake it. A thoughtful expression touched his features as he drifted towards the edge of the pool, tapping his bearded chin lightly.

"It most certainly has. I'm glad to see you looking as wonderful as ever, Feybunny." he remarked, quirking a brow. "Though I won't lie to you and say I'm not just a tad intrigued."

Reaching the pool's edge he folded his arms on the surface, peering up at her inquisitively. "After all, I've never seen a ghost before."

This place was certainly strange and Ema was doing her best to just stay away from any bed room of the sort. This was really all scientifically unsound how she ended up here. So, it made her a little grumpy, which usually lead to angry snacking later.

"I didn't know this place had an indoor pool."
Well, it was a different change up from the main part of the hotel and then someone called out to her.

Oh god...it was him.

Now would probably be a good time to try and leave unnoticed. She'd rather not know how he of all people ended up here.

Leave unnoticed? Oh, perish the thought, Ema. He sees you; do you really think you can just walk away, now? Can you walk away from...

The patented Damon Gant soul-piercing stare?

Right into your eyes, Ema. Just him staring riiiiight at you. Who knows what he's thinking? Does he want revenge? Does he want to make amends? Does he want something that this mun shudders to imagine?

Nobody knows but Gant. And he's not saying a word.

Goddamit and she has been spotted. She could just walk away for sure and not say a word, but it's like the stare had paralyzed her for now. It surely makes one uncomfortable, not to mention the silence.

"..."

She's just going to turn her head, because a staring contest is like trying a swimming contest against Gant. Not going to win, ever. Maybe if she's lucky he won't even recognize her.

[[OOC: Foxgirl okay? She's just got the ears and tail, that's all! She's also got the Help Wanted event on her, but she's very polite and modest and won't say anything ^^;;]]

Cadence stared at the water hesitantly, she was indeed, very warm but she wasn't sure if she should go in. She wasn't even sure how she found herself in this bathing suit but hugged herself in response. "N-No, I think I'm okay r-right here, sir."

[[OOC: Foxgirl is approved! As for the event, time will tell. XD ]]

His eyebrows quirked up a bit at the sight, but that was the only indication of his surprise. The ears and tail were unusual fashion accessories... Ah, but he wasn't exactly up on the trends these days, was he? Maybe they were the hip things to wear nowadays.

"Nonsense! A young woman such as yourself must stay in tip top shape, after all, and swimming is the best exercise there is!" He turned, gesturing to the rest of the pool. "After all, there's more than enough room for both of us, mm?"

[OOC: Yay! And haha, I figured. XDb]]

Well, he would be in for a surprise when he found out they were real. But for now, the ears simply twitched slightly as she still looked at the water warily. "W-Well yes but... I never learned how to swim" Cadence flushed hard, tentatively sticking a toe into the cool water where the steps were. "I-I think I'm okay over here."

Never learned how to-- oh, how tragic. "My dear, that simply will not do. I can't allow it; out of the question!" He drifted around the pool's edge, floating in her general direction on his side. "After all, swimming is important not only for one's safety, but it's a wonderfully relaxing activity." He smiled, warmly now, adding, "If nothing else, you can surely stand in the more shallow half?"
