So my first two days at home have been good...Better than expected, really.

I didn't get in till ~5 AM Saturday morning, thanks to a nice blend of Spivey, Amy, Kuni, and other factors (most notably, upset stomach, causing me to stop and chill for a while on the way back). Lemme tell ya, my mom was THRILLED about that. I stopped at a closed gas station with no lights on and no one around (you could still pay with your card), and I thought she was gonna freak. Apparently she doesn't like me putting myself in incredibly dangerous situations at 2 in the morning very much. Imagine that.

I have been working at Barnie's, of course, which has been nice. As much as I like money, I usually enjoy work, because it's never been hard for me to remember that me working = me having money. I have met a few new people. Jennifer seems really nice...she is new, and has a biology degree that she doesn't know what the hell to do with. So she works at a coffee shop (go figure). We chatted a lot today. Bill seems cool too...he goes to Montreat College (a tiny Christian college in Black Mountain that's really strict. They, like, have dorm check-in times and stuff, and people of the opposite sex can only visit your room between 7 and 11 at night. In other words, that place SUCKS!). Today he was trying to Christmas shop for this girl that he "doesn't have any feelings for but might want to some day" (whatever the hell that means...I think it just means that he likes her and won't admit it). Anyway, he's apparently really bad at this. The conversation went something like this:

Bill: Maybe I should get her a candle?
Holly: A...what?
Bill: You don't think a candle would be good?
Holly: *being polite* Well...um....that MIGHT be OK, what else have you thought about giving her?
Bill: Maybe, like, a journal? Girls like journals, right?
Holly: Maybe when they're, like, 8...Have you thought about a DVD or something?
Bill: *blank look*

So he ended up getting her a journal...a "nice, leather-bound journal". It's amazing how much a "nice, leather-bound journal" looks like a "cheap, vinyl-bound journal". But, I'm sure she'll like it...or return it the next day for a DVD :)

*HERE COMES THE BITCHING*

So, other than the employees, though, working has been kinda a bitch. It's getting closer to Christmas, and people are starting to get closer to grumpy. I had this woman in today that acted like she had been beaten to tears with the grouchy stick...I got a cup that told me to make a "white chocolate freezer with whipped cream". So I did. I start to hand it to her, and she says, "I didn't want whip cream". I say, "no problem. I can pour it off". She says, "no, I'll take it if you're just going to throw it out". Now, when she said this, I thought she was talking about the whole drink, since the company wants us to re-make any drinks that we screw up on even a little bit (because some people don't take kindly to you pouring half their drink out and then handing it to them). So, I continued to dump the whipped cream off the top of her drink and then hand it to her. She takes the drink, glares at me, and in the nastiest tone I think is possible, she says, "that was wasteful!" and stomps off, rolling her eyes. WASTEFUL?!?!?!? The bitch had just spent $5 on a milkshake ($5.13 to be exact, but who's counting)!!! Who the hell is she to talk about WASTEFUL? I mean, I am all up for not being purposely wasteful, but honestly, shouldn't being nice to people be a priority too? C'mon people, let's work on humanity first, THEN worry about being liberated! Hmph.

*END OF BITCHING*

So, like Rachel said, it snowed today. I got stuck in the snow for my first time ever. The road was really slick when I came home, anyway, but I was doing OK until this van started sliding around in front of me when I was about to go up a hill. I stopped, because I didn't want to pass the van while it was sliding so much. Unfortunately, after I stopped, I couldn't get traction again. My car isn't the best in the snow anyway, and it reallllly didn't like the ice today. I kinda slid around, moving forward very slowly (Doing things the "right" way didn't work, but I could move forward very slowly by spinning my wheels, lol). Finally, a nice man in a 4 wheel drive came by and pulled me out with a chain. It was nice of him. Annoying experience, though.

Anyway, I am working every day all week except Thursday. I think I'm starting to get sick, but hopefully I'll be able to stop it before it gets bad with vitamins and medicine and sleep and stuff. Anyway, I hope everyone's having a good break so far!
