Thinking about my SFSU application...

Dear Future Roommate,

It seems strange to introduce myself to someone who knows nothing about me by starting with my name, as most introductions are made. What good will my name do without an identity to attach to it? So, let me tell you a bit about myself before I give you a name to connect to me. As you may already be able to tell ( Read more... )

Hey Stacy! Long time no talkies. I've been slacking on reading lj, but I seem to remember you posting about being in nola again? Still here? Have a burning desire to go to the Aquarium/New Orleans Pharmacy Museum/NOMA (not all at once, of course)? Or maybe hang out and think of what Esplanade mall used to be like in the old days? I'm guessing we have a lot to catch up on =P

As for the writer's block, it's more like a moving-life-forward block - applying to grad school. I can't help but procrastinate. It's in my blood. But I need to get my ass moving. It's due Feb 15th. Luckily, I already have a good GRE score, 2 professors that I worked with very closely on their/my undergrad research who'll write me recs. I just need to write the damn "statement of purpose." Why can't "those classes make me want to scream in ecstasy and i've only read the course titles" be enough? Psh, thinking about the future. I just wanna learn more fun stuff! But, alas, one must show some sort of desire to accomplish more than simply adoring learning stuff. Work! Bah!

anyway, we should hang out! what kind of schedule you keeping these days? I work mon-fri 10am-6pm. any other time is pretty much free. ah, part-time work life. i miss writing research papers =(

I'm going to be picking up some work soon, tutoring my cousin who has some learning disabilities and helping him with his homework, but even that's only going to be a few hours a day in the afternoons. Other than that, right now I'm really free, doing a lot of the same kinds of things you're doing...apps, chasing down transcripts, somehow always findind a way to not do my statement of purpose (and my first one's due Dec. 15th--eep!). But it's sort of working out. I've finally figured out a label for this big mass of things I'm actually interested in, so from there I figure it's not too bad (except for the actual writing of it).

Also, I didn't know we had a Pharmacy Museum. That actually sounds intriguing. Also also, I heard a rumor that NOMA is free or something to residents? I don't know if that's true, but it'd be pretty sweet. And the Aquarium is fun too. Really all of them = fun. Now, if we just had a good science museum here!

At any rate, you can nab me via e-mail at sdickerman at gmail dot com.
