Well, hello again, everyone!
I'm back from my trip (finally). We had a hard time getting home. All the flights out of Vegas were full, so we had to fly into Cleveland, then hop on a flight to Houston. We got home 12 hours later than expected. Needless to say, I took the next day off.
We had a BLAST! I played lots of blackjack and lost about $100, but had fun doing it!
Steven and I went to the Las Vegas Hilton and went to the Star Trek Experience. It includes a 'museum' of timelines and props and costumes, and two rides. The Klingon Attack and the Borg Invasion in 4-D. The Borg ride kinda sucked, but the klingon attack was awesome. They take you through the hallways of the Enterprise D and onto the bridge. It's a cheaper mock-up, obviously, but it feels like you're really there. Jonathan Frakes and Levar Burton recorded film for the ride and Patrick Stewart recorded a voice over, so it's like they're really talking to you!!!
After that, Steven and I went on to the bridge again and took our picture in the captain's chair...actually, I was in the captain's chair, steven was in Deanna Troi's chair. There were 3 other groups of 2 with us there and when it was time to leave, our photographer said, "we can't go yet. The Borg ride is coming through and if we go now, we'll walk right through it, so we get to stay here and hang out on the bridge for a minute. Touch anything you want, but no photography." I sat down in Wesley's position at Navigation and played with the buttons at Ops, then went up to Worf's old post and fired a few photon torpedoes.
It cost about $100 total for me abd steven's tickets and the price of the picture, but it was so worth it!!
Saturday night we went to Luxor, Mandalay Bay, Excalibur, New York New York, Tropicana and MGM. I played a few dozen hands of blackjack at tropicana. I was doing well at first, then it didn't turn out so good. But I got nice and sloshed on my three free drinks, so it wasn't a total loss!
Sunday morning was grandma's party. Everyone had really nice things to say about her and she told everybody, "Don't make me cry!"
It was great seeing all my cousins and steven got a chance to meet just about everyone on dad's side of the family. After the party, we went downstairs and played more blackjack. I left when I broke even, then I lost the rest of my money that night at Slots-a-Fun. We stayed at Circus Circus, but I only played two hands of blackjack there!
Pictures will come soon. When we got there, I found that my camera had stopped working, so steven took all the pics. I'll get them up on flickr, then I'll link it here.
Ciao.
