Oh... to the frustrated masses... let me mend your wounds... or not.

Okay folks, so I made the changes last night, and I am sticking with them.. however here are a few concerns that have popped up overnight...

- The four character category thing: Yes it does seem pretty limited, however every community will have up to 3 nominations to make per category. Now when I say EVERY community I mean EVERY community. So take ( Read more... )

Okay, I have to admit, I'm intrigued with this concept. (Pardon my english)

I most certainly was about ready to give up on every single award comm because of the clique like mentality they were showing everywhere. Which is why I raised the questions if the rpg_herald should even bother following them anymore. It was rather, how should I put it, disappointing, to see the same people win over and over again ( ... )

I really REALLY like that idea, you have to be careful with who you select though, because we don't know everyone in this RPG Community, and by having the one person pick the next person you might still get stuck in those small gourps of players. I opened Josscar_Noms in the hopes that people would want to post their characters in order to help people learn more about them and their diversity among writing. I mean I won an award for my character and someone actually didn't know that it was me playing them!

If you do start up that community please let me know. I will gladly support it in any way I can.

Well that's where the hard work comes in. You can easily check a players LJ and check the comms they are in . (Usually the same people share a lot of games) That way you can see if one is playing with the player they chose. But it takes a lot of work to go through all that (And even then it's not flawless).

And then one has to wonder if there is a 'demand' for such a comm. I think by now a lot of people will go 'Eh! Pffft.. another one' no matter how hard you try to explain that 'No it's not'. Or would they even bother to come up with samples for the player 'in the spotlight'.

Not to mention there's a lot of things to work out. Do you pick one character per player, do you say 'So and So player with all his/her characters is in the spotlight'? How do you do it with games? Do you just pick one big game and one 1 on 1 per month? Ye gods, I'm getting a headache just thinking about it. ;-)

Oh I know!! It is a lot of work. I was thinking though, if you want I can go through all the nominees from the first round of Josscars, and once a week, post one sample up at a time at Gimme_Love as the Nominee of the Week. Then people can comment, or whatever on that player. I mean we had 30 odd categories, and a variety of characters that got nominated.. it could be something to try at least until you can organize something??

I am glad. I am sure it was a lot to take into mind when we first posted it. I wanted to really go into detail last night, but I wanted people that had questions to be able to voice them, so that when I got into the specifics I had a better idea of where to focus.

First off, I gotta say this sounds interesting. I completely agree about the overwhelming amount of award communities, and yes...I too probably would have gone nutty if I see another 'Best Buffy' category. This is a new spin on things and I can't speak for everyone, but I for one am most intrigued ^_^ Really hope this works out for you mod-ish types.

Thanks for clear up on the Songfic categories, and now I pose a question...:

For the Buffy and/or Angel "Best Short Film // SOLO - POST ( no replies)" I've a thread in mind but I'm not sure if it's eligible or not. It DOES have 3 replies...but they're all from the character who wrote the main post. He had to make extensions to it as the players in a Tara/Lindsey thread moved along with their replies. I'll stop explaining and just make a pretty link...

Spy Kid

I'm sure I can find something else if this one is no good. Just let me know ^_^

I personally have no problem with that example counting, but there are five of us, so it's only fair to find out what the others think before anything gets finalized.

Thanks for your questions. ;D

Thanks for the vote of support, as I look down the page I see that I have a lot of replying to do, but I took a look at the post and since it is all the same writer I would say that it fits, however we are hoping that it becomes a community choice to nominate people and threads, instead of an individual.

We want the nomination to mean as much as a win, so by making the community choose their nominees together I think it really makes a difference.

"however we are hoping that it becomes a community choice to nominate people and threads, instead of an individual."

Oh, I know and I totally agree. I'm a mod at that comm and I put the categories up in the OOC so we can all discuss who/what we'd like to put up. That specific post is just MY opinion for that category and everyone else is expected to pick something as well so we can narrow it down to what we're eventually gonna submit to you ^_^

Thanks for answering my question! :)

I think this is just making it more difficult than it needs to be. People took time to nomm themselves and coded for round 2 and now you are changing it yet again.

Another thing I don't get is why the mods of this comm have chastised other awards comms for starting in the wake of some closing when there is you. You know maybe some people don't want to be a part of comms like thsi one that have taken over LJ. You want to be the only ones out there and others be damned. That isn't fair at all.

This all of course is just my opinion, but I felt that I should be able to voice it here considering it involved this comm.

the reason I am lumping you together is because you all use the same username. Ever think if you don't want to be lumped then get a different name for each mod. Simple as that.

and furthermore...when you have icons that say things like "I am a mod get over yourself" that doesnt breed a kind community. That makes you to seem like the enemy.

We are not haters we are all simply voicing our opinions. I am sorry that you think otherwise. I jujst refuse to be a conformist.
