It has come to my attention that I'm not particularly fit. Well, "come to my attention" is putting it too strongly. I've just decided to stop kidding myself that venturing into the outdoors the way I do counts as adequate exercise. For instance, the Uni has a lake, which I like to walk around at weekends, but my idea of walking is a leisurely stroll that allows me to relax, take in the scenery and spot the wildlife. This takes me about an hour. A couple of weeks ago I tried it at a more brisk pace and cut it down to 25 mins. Last week I had to walk into work and back after dropping my car off for its MOT, 40 mins walk each way, and felt quite satisfied about having done so. But it's not really enough to feel that good about, is it.
So, over the last few days I've decided to try and be a little healthier. Nothing extreme, just try to do more walking than I usually do and try and eat more veg. My body has rewarded me by giving me a bug that's making me feel tired and drained, and my tonsils painfully inflamed. Woohoo, and pass the Lemsip.
I've seen V For Vendetta and enjoyed it, and have now acquired the graphic novel too, as I'd only read it once before after borrowing it from a friend many years ago. This is probably quite a good basis for seeing the film, actually; just enough awareness of the main storyline to critique it, but not enough in-depth knowledge to be offended by the changes and omissions. It's not a great movie, but it's a good one which i may well go and see again, and you should go and see it too. And read the book. And then read

By contrast, Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle was on TV last night, a movie which doesn't even deserve to be described as a movie. It's a collection of loosely-connected stunts so ridiculous that they can only be described as "pretty things happening to pretty people". It's not possible to defend this as so-bad-it's good, it doesn't even qualify as so-bad-it's-bad. This is full-on Hollywood so-pointless-it's-pointless.
Last rehearsal with the AC/DC set before the gig on saturday. We hope to squeeze in a separate rehearsal of some other stuff as well, which we haven't rehearsed at all so far. This gig is going to be interesting. Still, it's a farewell party for a friend who's moving to New Zealand; no-one's going to expect perfection as long as everyone has a laugh.
Tired now.
