Much to my chagrin I was informed last week of a gig date that had already been confirmed, but which had failed to make it into my diary. And it's smack in the middle of AFPcamp which means that, for the first time since the '98 Con, I will be unable to attend a Diskworld summer event

It's a bit of a blow, as it's always been one of the highlights of my year. So many people I don't get to see at any other time, and it's always been a total blast. Sorry folks, I'm really going to miss you.

That's how I feel about this year's afpcamp too. But Dalesbridge means an long and expensive train journey from here, on top of which is £39 a night (which actually is quite good for a B&B, but all the same...). I only really get one chance a year to see my friends[1], so I'm disappointed too, and it feels odd not to have a 'seeing my friends' event to look forward to.
Maybe I'll try and get to the Pembury at some point.

[1]Although this year I've seen pakennedy and da_pol, which is nice:-)
