Double-booked
Much to my chagrin I was informed last week of a gig date that had already been confirmed, but which had failed to make it into my diary. And it's smack in the middle of AFPcamp which means that, for the first time since the '98 Con, I will be unable to attend a Diskworld summer event.
It's a bit of a blow, as it's always been one of the highlights of my year. So many people I don't get to see at any other time, and it's always been a total blast. Sorry folks, I'm really going to miss you.
Clearly my life is overdue for a bit of organisation...
I've somehow managed to join a new band every autumn for the last three years, so my schedule at weekends was already starting to get a bit full. And this year I've suddenly found myself with a new and very wonderful girlfriend who happens to live 200 miles away. Being able to keep my calendar (and hers) in one place and have access to it everywhere suddenly became very important, so I've finally joined the 21st century and gotten myself a SmartPhone. Sadly it was too late for the Diskworld event; hopefully it'll teach me to be disciplined about my diary-keeping and avoid clashes in future.
