Return of the Mack

I'm back!! OK, seriously, hands up who noticed I was gone... yeah, that's what I thought. :P Getting very bad at updating this journal - I rarely consider my life interesting enough to write about, and when it is interesting, I don't have time to write about it. Still, I have still been reading about you all and am following your various adventures with interest.

So what's been going on recently? Well I just got back from another holiday to the USA. Lisa and I spent two wonderful weeks together, mostly just enjoying being together and knocking around her apartment.

Of course, we went out and did some stuff too. We spent 4 days in Birmingham, Alabama visiting Lisa's parents - yes this was the first time I met them, so it was very nerve wracking. But when we got there it was much easier than I thought it would be, and her Dad and I seemed to get on very well. He's one of those people who has loads of stories and is happy to talk to anyone about practically any subject. Very nice guy, I thought. And both Lisa's parents are crazy generous - don't think I paid for anything for the entire time we were there! We went shopping, looked around Lisa's Dad's lab at the uni (he's a research professor) and went to see Die Hard 4. Good ol' John McClane, eh? :) Um... we also went to see Transformers when Lisa and I got back to Austin - that was a little disappointing. It's really not as good as I wanted it to be. But then how could it have been, right? Big question now is - do I go see it with my friends here when's it's released this weekend? Hmm....

Oh, and Lisa and I went out on Friday for our 1 year anniversary - a whole year! Check us out, we rule. :) Went to some posh restaurant in downtown Austin, got all dressed up, had 3 course posh meal with cocktails. We had a really good time.

And now I'm back home, and started work again last Monday. I lasted all of 2 days, as I have caught a nasty cold and am currently feeling crappy. Took today off work to try to kick it, but I'm still feeling funky and it's 11pm. Hopefully a good nights sleep will help, coz I really do need to go back to work tomorrow.

In other health news, Louise (my older sister, if you're not keeping track) is back in hospital. The same problems she was having last year have recurred and she had surgery on Monday evening. She's recovering ok, so far as I know - obviously with my cold I can't go visit her. But Mum and Dad have made frequent trips in to London. It really sucks, coz she was fine for 6 months and I was really hopeful that she could start getting her life back after last years misery. But now it's all starting again. So unfair. :(

OK, and that'll do for now. I'd say I'll try to update more often but... yeah, you know me too well by now!
