New Year's Resolution #1.

Jan 09, 2012 20:25

So, this is a fine way to start a brand new year: spending a lot of money on beautiful (but ultimately frivolous) things. The bag I ordered from SSteinDesign has arrived, and I LOVE it. It's lighter than a full-leather bag, incredibly strong and sturdy, and it fits an unbelievable amount of STUFF. Today, I took it to work and filled it with tons of documents and folders, in addition to my usual handbag detritus. It's not ideal for Shanghai because the top gapes open if you don't press the studs shut, but I've ordered a handbag insert with zipper compartments that I can slip into the bag, so that should deter prying hands from snatching my valuables (wallet, keys, phone, etc).

In addition to eyeshadows, lipsticks, base makeup, silk scarf and silk robe (photographs linked in my comments here), I came back from a week-long holiday in Japan with a wool skirt suit, red wool pleated skirt, vintage Dolce & Gabbana long beige wool coat (very cool), and camel leather ankle boots. Infuriatingly, I left Japan the day before the New Year's sales started (January 2), but in retrospect, perhaps that was a kindness to my credit cards.

From La Garconne, I ordered this slim-fitting Vena Cava skirt and this navy skirt by Les Prairies de Paris, both of which were on sale. They arrived this afternoon, and look amazing.

Finally, tonight, as I was browsing on eBay yet again for the gorgeous Haider Ackermann jacket that I discovered in a vintage clothes shop in Omotesando but in the wrong size, I saw it again in a 38 (perfect!). Needless to say, it is now heading my way, along with this vintage grey wool suit by Irene van Ryb.

In case you get the idea that all I ever do is buy things, have a fic rec: A wind that passeth away and cometh not again (Homeland) by ariadnes_string.
