Drabble: Tears for the Ferryman (Misfits; Simon/Alisha)

Dec 08, 2010 09:36

Yes, I am drabbling at work again. Not because things aren't incredibly hectic and busy, it's just that Misfits refuses to get out of my head.

Spoiler for everything up to 2x04.

Simon, Alisha. PG. Now he knows what kind of superhero story this is.

Tears for the Ferryman

It makes sense, when he finally puts the pieces together. Actions, words out of place, missing gaps - not just the random bullshit that happens - coming into focus like numbered points in a vast game of connect-the-dots. Looks that she gave him, unexpected kindnesses.

He used to think, if life was a comic book, that he'd be the calm, cool-headed brains of the operation. The deus ex machina whose quick thinking keeps the plot moving for the real heroes of the team.

Now he knows what kind of superhero story this is.

He tells Alisha. What else can he do?

I don't fucking believe in this fate bollocks. Look at Curtis. You don't see him throwing in the towel. Oh, god...

Is she crying? He can't tell with her face covered by her hands, her entire body hunched over as if she can't bear to look at him. Maybe she tried to spare him this knowledge...or the falling in love bit in the first place. Maybe she cared for him that much. Not him. The other Simon.

He puts an arm around her, tentative. When she leans into his touch, it is a gift. One that he hasn't done anything to deserve. Not yet.
