Rose Byrne (Damages) is in negotiations to play Moira MacTaggert, a scientist and colleague of Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) in X-Men: First Class. Also joining the cast is Jason Flemyng as the teleporting mutant Azazel. (THR, Coming Soon)

Robin Wright and Stellan Skarsgard are set to star in David Fincher's remake of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, as Erika Berger and Martin Vanger respectively. (Rope of Silicon)

Ben Affleck, Rachel Weisz, Javier Bardem, Rachel McAdams and Olga Kurylenko have been cast in Terrence Malick's as-yet-untitled next film, described as "a powerful and moving love story". (Cinematical)

Steven Zeitchik at the LA Times writes about the possibility of a sequel to Salt, the action-thriller starring Angelina Jolie. Having seen the film, I'm torn. Evelyn Salt is no Jason Bourne, and Martin Krause is not Marie. The relationship that motivates Salt's actions throughout the film is so briefly sketched out, it felt at times like whole scenes had been chopped to make room for more action. I don't see how a sequel is going to change that, unless they bring in childhood traumas in addition to the murdered spouse.
