This morning, I had a bit of an eiphany. I was reading this post at thegoodwife_cbs and thinking what a smart, character-centred, well-acted, well-written drama The Good Wife is. I don't think there's anything quite like it on TV right now, in terms of both consistent quality and ratings success. In fact, when I try to think of another (non-HBO) show with the ( Read more... )

Isn't "The Good Wife" most amazing, it is the only TV show I am watching at the moment, there doesn't seem to be too much on? But why do you say "was"? I thought I have heard that it has got a second season (to no wonder, the ratings are good).

Ops. My grammatical slip.

Yes, I'm pretty confident that there'll be many seasons to come.

I love the Good Wife. It's such a quiet and well-mannered and clever little show. (Spain is currently jumping the Glee train and dubbing Castle, but I have hope that I'll eventually get a Good Wife dub, which is going to be awesome --- spanish dubs amuse me immensly atm).

Oh, and I said hi to the Sagrada Familia for you, they're currently constructing interiour columns and the ceiling, so it's even more busy, but she still looks breathtakingly awesome. :)

If flights weren't that expansive, I'd say come visit for the weekend! :( We've got parties and food and many, many churches!

It's a truly great show. I'm constantly surprised at the plot elements they bring up and the way they're developing and resolving them - it's hardly ever conventional. And the characters are wonderful, down to the kids, who are among the most believable (and likable) TV children I've seen in recent years.

I love all the characters, especially they way that the writers have gradually developed Carey and Diane - making us think of them as the enemies, before turning it into a genuine ensemble. I also love the mutually competitive, teasing, yet respectful, dynamic between the two partners, Diane and Will.

I was actually going to get to this show later today. I'm glad to hear it won't disappoint :)

Doesn't Damages fit into the same category though? Or is that not doing as well ratings-wise?

I usually marathon the entire season of Damages at the end, because I find it difficult to follow from week to week, and I don't find the characters themselves to be very sympathetic (except for the ones that die, or leave the show, like Wes). I watch Damages mainly for the mystery, and the skill of the writers and actors.

It really is. It's also one of the more nuanced portrayals of women on TV, which is always nice. The cast, the writing, all of it is just fantastic. I was relieved it got its S2 because, well, I wish it were doing better.
