Nov 19, 2007 23:31

transtempts keeps giving me ideas for Adam/Josef drabbles, and I can't help but write them. Follows in the same sequence as Saudade and Love (And Other Catastrophes). Spoilers up to 2.08.

Adam Monroe and Josef Konstantin, 19th century. PG.

The others' world
is not ours: not the same.

Oh, very, very good drabble. I rarely like pieces that use "you" in the narrative, but this worked beautifully.

AHHHHH! :flail: I love the fanciful diction and the sweet sarcasm.

Fanciful diction, I...fancied, was probably all the vogue in Paris, turn of the century, and Josef is nothing if not in keeping with the times. ;)

Thank you!

I was just writing Joyride to begin with because I thought it was so perfect that they were both around the same age, and the favourite characters on shows I'm watching. But you've got me shipping them for real - the vampire and the immortal. Neither are really human, both feel rather above all of it.

The initial concept behind the drabble got a bit away from me, but I started by wondering what it would be like trying to imagine "the world" before the 20th century, before the World Wars and globalisation, when people's consciousness for the most part didn't extend that far. Hiro's words would seem as much hyperbole as someone saying "save the multidimensional fabric of the universe" today.

Josef and absinthe and making gentle fun of Hiro and Oh My God; two chess players seeing the board for the very first time.

You're unbelievable, you know that, right ?
