The initial concept behind the drabble got a bit away from me, but I started by wondering what it would be like trying to imagine "the world" before the 20th century, before the World Wars and globalisation, when people's consciousness for the most part didn't extend that far. Hiro's words would seem as much hyperbole as someone saying "save the multidimensional fabric of the universe" today.
