Yeah, I saw The Departed. I don't have much to say about it, except that I liked it, but I didn't love it. It was too long, and it didn't haunt me the way that the original Infernal Affairs did. I can understand why Christopher Doyle would have been disappointed with it. It lacked...composure. But that's just Scorsese, I guess. I've never been the biggest fan of his work.

Intense new domestic trailer for Perfume. The first half is very similar to the previous trailer, but the second half contains new footage.

The US film adaptation of the high-acclaimed British television political drama State of Play (directed by the latest Harry Potter helmer David Yates) is definitely going ahead, with Brad Pitt in the journalist role formerly occupied by John Simm. The character's name is Cal McCaffrey, but I'm expecting the screenwriter Matthew Carnahan to change it for the Americanised remake. (Dark Horizons) [imdb]

Paddy Considine (In America) has joined the cast of The Bourne Ultimatum playing a British journalist who's on the trail of a former CIA director - could that be Joan Allen's character? (Coming Soon)

Moriaty at AICN reviews Christopher Nolan's The Prestige. Spoilers have been kept to a minimum. "...what I like about this and about MEMENTO is that Nolan wants to make films that not only withstand repeat viewings, but that actually demand them."

Rachel Weisz is the first lead to join Rian Johnson's (Brick) second film, The Brothers Bloom, which the official teaser site calls "a con man movie". Johnson said in an exclusive interview with Devin Faraci: "it’s about these two guys who grow up in and out of foster homes as kids and they learn to survive by becoming con men." (CHUD) [imdb]
