Indian-born Kiran Desai last night became the youngest woman to win the Man Booker Prize, for her novel The Inheritance of Lost. (Guardian)

Google yesterday bought up video-sharing site YouTube for $1.65bn. From the USA Today feature article on the acquisition: "Google did, in fact, promise to leave YouTube alone -- it will keep all its employees, separate headquarters, its own brand. Right now, for instance, a search on Google Video will not find a video that's on YouTube. That will change."
