I don't know how many of you folks are into hiphop, but I saw Dave Chappelle's Block Party the other day, and while the movie is a fairly humorous, the concert is unbelieveable.  The whole Brooklyn crew was there, including Dead Prez, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Common, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, and The Roots (who happened to be the house band, the music supporting almost every artist that played).  They even tried to get Lauren Hill, but Columbia Records refused to release her songs to Chappelle for release on neither cd or dvd, so Lauren Hill came up with a longshot of a backup plan and got THE FUGEES to come.

Say what you will about the whole genre or concert, there is absolutely no arguing with Wyclef Jean.

Needless to say, the dvd is great.  All of the music composed for the show was written by ?uestlove.  The show is incredible.

...also, Mos Def is probably the smoothest motherfucker to ever grace the earth, and I had no idea that he could play drums.

Tickets for the RHCP/Mars Volta show are $54 a piece, and there are absolutely no even decent seats left.  If I end up going to that show, I will have to spend a good $150-200 to do it, and I really don't think I can swing it - especially if Tool is on tour by that point...

I really need to get my Ray Lamontagne tickets, too.
