So, here's the half-year in review.
January's highlight included The Rock Boat. Nothing like good shows and alcohol all on one cruise ship. Review of it
here.
In February, I turned a year older, a new boss comes to town, and then I start feeling sick, which led to a boatload of issues, including anxiety, depression and hypertension. On top of that damn cold that lasted until Easter. Sheesh. But at least the music started up again since The Rock Boat, from Stephen Kellogg & The Sixers to Honor By August to Will Hoge.
March had me struggling through my viral cold/flu/God knows what it was. But I got through that and work (Fiscal Quarter-End sucked!) and still managed to make it to shows, which featured a ChickenBucket and two HBA album release shows.
Apprently, April was a bit of a dead month in terms of shows, and I was re-settling into my professional life, but the non-concert social life was starting to blossom as I had a pretty close encounter to a girl I had my eye on at the bar. Unfortunately, I don't have a follow-up story for that; she hasn't called me since I gave her my number. Oh yeah, HBA came to my neighborhood, but the turnout wasn't so great, so no more Mercury Lounge shows for those guys.
May was another bit of a quiet month, but Elliot Yamin rolled through town w/ a bit of his stuff (better live than studio). Oh yeah, my horserace handicapping skills somehow won me a shitload of money (ok, it was about $120) as I had a longshot win a race. Oh yeah, late in the month, the social life was going into full gear as I was invited to a party and got my drink and smoke on w/ a whole bunch of strangers (I even grilled some hot dogs on the fire escape). Fun times!
June made quite a bit of noise on all fronts. I saw Lily Allen forget her lyrics, Mandy Lauderdale raise the blood pressure of an entire bar, and Honor By August doing what they do best in DC. I made some new friends for life just at random over drinks (gotta love the city!), and I lost my cool at work. But no worries, I gots me a raise!
Well, there were loads more memories from the past 6 months, but these were the moments that stuck out in my head. Happy 4th ya'll!
