I need to vacuum more often with all this damn pollen.

Yesterday I had brunch with Patrick and his friend Alex at Guglhupf. I really should get on Yelp and write reviews, but I am teh lazy. I like Guglhupf, don't get me wrong, but I haven't had anything yet that is truly amazing. The bratwurst is great and I have it every other time I go in, but really, it's not that spectacular and not something I crave enough to go. Likewise with the salads I've had and the other food, including my omelette yesterday. Good, but not so fantastic that I would want to brave the brunch traffic.

Stopped by the bead store before heading home for a nap. Jen had decided she was too tired for Free Comic Book Day, but David had gone out and wanted to show off his loot (which was surprisingly extensive).

We had an early dinner at Watts Grocery... again, I didn't see anything I really wanted on the menu. The menu is pretty spectacular and everything is organic and locally grown, but it's a little too gourmet for me. Lu and I both had the ribeye which was amazing, actually. Man, that was a good steak. The french fries were good too, and the sweet tea. I think the rhubarb and strawberry tart was average, and the cocktail I had was good but not great.

Jen, Lu, and Jordan came over afterward to hang out and we had fun watching The Big Bang Theory (which Jordan is into) and teaching Lu how to use a silver polishing cloth. The jewelry pliers I use really are mesmerizing - both Lu and Jen couldn't stop playing with them.

After they left I watched The Last Picture Show, which I'd tried once and fallen asleep during. It's a good movie, actually, if you can get over how slow and seemingly random it is compared to contemporary movies (not that contemporary movies aren't entirely random themselves). I think it's also very symbolic and allegorical, which I'm not always used to, and somewhat generational. My parents remembered it, but I'm not sure that I will in a few weeks. I'm sure it deserves a place in AFI's Top 100 films, but I think much of what made it deserve that recognition was lost on me.

And that was my day! Hooray! I think I found one job listing during the day.

afi's top 100, lookit me go!, friends, north carolina wtf, 101 in 1001, internets, movies, real life, television
