My first Glastonbury!!

Jun 26, 2007 23:38

Yes there was mud, lots of mud. Yes it rained, a fair bit, but did we cry because of it? NO.

I had THE MOST AMAZING time - I cannot possibly fully comprehend just how amazing. Only people who have experienced the festival for themselves will know what I mean.

No other festival even comes close to Glastonbury.

I didn't really understand what people who had been before were saying to me about the fact that I probably won't see half the bands I intend to see, and it's very true. People ask me who I saw and I have to pause and think. There's the obvious who I WAS NOT gonna miss - Bloc Party, Chemical Brothers, Penge (in band form - hell yeah) Biffy. And then there were the bands I NEVER intended to see or had never heard of but checked them out and now love a little bit, like - Gogol Bordello (a gypsy punk band, and yes, it worked, very well!) The Marley Brothers (messages of love & unity, fucking brill, and brought out the sun) CSS (fucking MENTAL, in a good way) Kasabian (suprisingly, amazing!) and a bunch of other people I can't even remember right now..

And of course the hundreds of other random crap going on over the five days like - salsa dancing, walking around trash city, chanting in the hare krishna tent (?!?!) watching ghostbusters on the big screen with an ongoing commentary from a drunken crowd, and last but by no means last - Bill muthafuckin Bailey AKA: God! Wrapping up the festival on the sunday perfectly. and then of course, and probably the best part of the festival - the people. Glastonbury isn't a festival about the bands, not by far. It's all about the atmosphere and the people you meet, you can't turn around and talk to a random stranger about random bollocks at Reading or Download, no way. Glastonbury is all about unity, peace and togetherness, and I have never felt so safe and comfortable at a festival before.

Fuck reading.
Fuck download.

If you ain't been to Glastonbury - you ain't see nothing yet.
