I guess from looking this up further that there is still some squishing, however its all digital, and a breast sonogram thrown in afterwards, so less manipulating to get the right shot (yelling at them to be like a tiger and make love to the X-ray) and being stuck on the plate, so to speak.
Apparently the sonos and/or MRIs (the third kind) are highly recommended for those under 40 since the breast density makes it hard to get granulated close ups for the films as it does for the computer. MRI's most expensive so the HMOs dont opt for them unless needed, hence using the sono.

Presuming all goes well once I leave the place I won't have to worry about it for five years.
I suppose I'd be grateful if they did find something now instead of later...like in five years.
