Essay Written!
Finally.
I'm not terribly happy with it, I suppose, but the criteria for this were different from anything else I've written. The wonderful piece of creative literature I wrote the first time was completely inappropriate, so I started from scratch on a new one. They asked for a handful of different topics to be covered, which made it a different kind of difficult. They were related, sure, but "here are things you probably didn't know about me" types of relationships tend to produce a set of very different stories. I think this is the first conclusion I've ever had difficultly writing because by the time I was done I wasn't really certain what my point was. I suppose "you should give me an interview because I'm awesome" could have summed up my purpose, but even that didn't really do a great job with the content. ...And anyway, there's something to be said for modesty. (Is there? Perhaps it just sits there quietly; "Modesty, do you have anything you'd like to add?" "No, I think that's fine.")
