As a rule, I tend not to debate about SRS TOPICS on the Internet... including politics. Which is why I don't bring UP politics, in case it causes debate. So this is will quite possibly be the only post I'll ever make about politics.

(Before I get into this, I personally don't think the government should ban abortions. In my current thinking, anyway. Obviously, that's in keeping with my more libertarian thinking.)

Okay, but according to many pro-life people, abortion is murder, right? They would argue that just as a woman or man doesn't have the right to kill their neighbor or their boss or their mother or their toddler child, they also don't have the right to kill the child while it is still in the womb. So pro-life feminists believe that women are equal to men, but that the equality extends not only across genders but also across age, so that the female unborn child and the male unborn child and the female adult and the male adult all have the same right to life and that it would be wrong for someone else to infringe that right through murder. So since the government stops murders, shouldn't they stop abortion since it's the same thing? If that is their perspective, then why can't they be feminists AND pro-life? If they think kids and adults and fetuses are equal, and they're fine with the government stopping women who murder kids and adults, why can't they also be fine with women who abort their fetuses?

tl;dr While I think the issue is complex, and feminism should certainly be part of the discussion, the core of the debate really seems like it should focus on the personhood of the fetus, or the lack thereof.
