Smallville Episode 6.18 "Progeny"

hahaha

Smallville, you are a terrible, terrible show. But sometimes, you have a good one. Mostly when you avoid Lana and especially Clark/Lana/Lex!

The one tonight was one of the best ones. It was even better than the one about the Justice League because it was all: suspense! evil!Lex! power-controlled awesomesauce Chloe! actiony! (and had only like ONE 3 minute Clark/Lana/Lex scene)

I really enjoyed that one!

It was almost 100% Evil!Lex and Chloe. Which are pretty much the only awesomesauce characters on the show.

Clark Kent was only there to use his superpowers, just the way I like him. (Chloe referred to him once as "my one-man army," and another time as "resources at my disposal.")

And you know what? It's coming! The Lex vs. Supes stuff we've REALLY been waiting for (maybe). The very last scene, with chilling music playing, was Chloe telling Clark about Lex's prior "conversation" with her, and how she's now in Lex's crosshairs. And Clark was like, "Well, I guess he's in mine." *Pause* "It's inevitable - the war is about to begin."

*Cut to credits*

*Cut to PREVIEW FOR NEXT WEEK'S EPISODE*

Shots of Lex and Clark being enemies with flashbacks of them as friends and talking about WHY THEY HATE EACH OTHER SO.

Now I feel that I can actually let myself be excited not only for new Heroes, but also for new Smallville next week!

SO, Lex had Chloe's mom in one of his "facilities," and Chloe's mom has the power to control ANY meteor freaks if she touches their possessions. It's like, long-distance Eden powers? Chloe's mom was played by Lynda Carter, famous for being Wonder Woman (and she was the principal on Sky High, but I'm only pointing that out because I like Sky High a lot). Anyway, Lex's "persuading" Chloe's mom was great. As was Chloe's mom controlling various other meteor-freaks. We STILL did not find out what Chloe's power was (not that I expected us to), but ah well! She did awesome stuff anyway.

My favorite scene was probably Chloe shooting Lex (under control of her mom) with some kind of giant gun with a giant bullet, after ninja-kicking some Luther-troops and taking their gun, and you see the bullet come at Lex in slow motion as normal. And normally Clark rushes in there, blah blah blah. But in this scene, which was really dragged out, you see Clark just apathetically WATCHING it. WATCHING THE TRAJECTORY OF THE GIANT BULLET. ABOUT TO HIT LEX'S FACE. And this bullet is so big, he will HAVE NO FACE. And then finally at the last minute, Clark like, "eh, ok. I guess I'll save him" and does so.

Which makes the last line all the better, "The War is about to begin."

Truthfully I have never really liked Superman. Flash and the Teen Titans are basically the only DC heroes I've liked.

Final thought: Chloe and Clark is probably the best relationship on the show. I'm not saying I ship them, because I ship nobody/nobody since Smallville can't really focus on romance without becoming rediculously obnoxious and over-focusing on it (c'mon, gimme ACTION and SUSPENSE). If I WERE to ship anyone, it would indeed be Clark/Chloe (even knowing it will never happen), BUT the show just couldn't handle it.
And that was one of the very, very few Smallville episodes that wasn't laughably bad.

smallville is crap
