He touched her. As softly and gently as he could. Hands delicately cupping her cheeks and framing her too wide eyes. Her too bright with tears eyes.
She offered a smile. Tainted with remorse and hurt. But he accepted it. And presented a weak, trembling twitch of the lips of his own in return. She nodded at him.
I understand. She said. Being exactly what he needed. As she always had been.
He leaned forward. Cheeks a harsh, blotchy red as he touched his lips to hers. Her breath caressed him in a shaky wave as she sighed. His hands gripped her face tighter and he pressed closer.
She lifted onto tiptoe and delicate hands twisted in his shirt. Her tongue smoothed over the crease between his lips. Soft as silk. Trembling.
He opened his mouth and tried to swallow her. Consume her. Take just a small piece of her into him so that he would never be alone.
He tried to give a piece back as well.
He tasted tears on his lips when he kissed her cheek. Apologies ran rampantly forth from his tongue. Tangled themselves around her slender frame and tried to hold her here. Keep her with him.
She hushed him. Just a gentle touch of a finger to his lips.
I understand. She said. And allowed him to take every last piece of her that he needed.
