☆ 11th Edict [Audio/Action for apartment mates]

[There's a crackling of noise, the sound of claws scraping--almost impatiently--across carpeted floor. Then, the device picks up panicked yowl that ends in something of an almost hesitant, threatening, confused hiss. This is replied to by a different being entirely, though the sounds are like in kind, though even lower in pitch and more of a ( Read more... )

[Unlike Keiki, Rokuta had been disturbed from his nap and, dammit, someone was gonna get yelled at for that. So out he goes from his room in search of the noise only to very quickly stumble to a halt.]

Sh... [There was no mistaking it, of course, for Rokuta could recognize Shouryuu no matter what his physical form was. And unfortunately the complete shock stopped all higher brain functions except to exclaim loudly,]

What the hell!?

[If there was anything to be said about the current lion in the room, it was that it was not amused to be caged. The feeling of having nowhere to go, above everything else, was driving him crazy. He recognized Rokuta, of course, as soon as as the kirin appeared. He wasn't quite so far gone as to not recognize those he knew, and understand in a fleeting way who they were to him. Though the line between his current sanity and insanity was becoming blurred, he was still able to vocalize, hard enough though it was to break through the growing instincts to attack, maim, and kill with nothing more than his remaining logic and reason. Part of him told him to use what sanity he had while he still had it, while another was whispering at him to just let it go.]

[He then took a few halting paces forward, almost as if in preparation to lunge. Then:] Where, [he said, voice low and feral, struggling, almost, to locate the right words], are they?

[Just as quickly as his brain had screeched to a halt, it lurched forward into motion again. Rokuta recalled instantly what he had read on the network and realized this could get ugly very quickly. Even more so when he felt the confusion and alarm from his shirei. He knew their loyalty was with him first and if he was threatened, even if it was by the king...

A king battling against his kirin's own shirei. How stupid would that be... He could almost laugh if that thought didn't scare him. No, he refused to let any sort of fighting occur. He would not let it happen. Rokuta swallowed and instinctively tensed.]

'They'? Do you mean the others? I don't know.

[He kept moving. Had to. Standing still was no longer a viable option. He had to move. Keep moving. Back and forth, back and forth. Pace. It still wasn't helping the growing restlessness that was building like a damn about to burst from the pressure of a flash torrent.]

[He shook his head with a frustrated growl.] No. Not them. Them. [What were they? He couldn't think of it--or much of anything. The words were evading him, draining away like the water through the cracks, and just as hard to recall.]

[Still, those beasts of his. Where were they where were they where were they? No, why weren't they out? They were there. Always would be. Was he stupid? The beast that was no human? No. Yes. No. Yes. Never looked out for his well-being. Always, just... Damn their hatred for war and blood. It made this one lose his common sense, sometimes. Irrational. If he didn't, better to hide in a closet and stay there. He had said that, hadn't he? A long time ago. Or maybe those were just more words. And these words were growing increasingly tiresome ( ... )

[Abruptly Rokuta realized he had backed himself up against the wall and only now could he feel the cold against his back. Everything in him told him to run but he couldn't at the same time. This was horribly confusing and somewhat painful, being threatened by one's own king in such a violent manner. Somehow he didn't think Shouryuu would ever actually hurt him, even cursed. This was probably a dangerous assumption, considering the situation.

Them. His shirei? No, if he summoned them they would fight. Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately) Rokuta didn't have to think about it. The lunge triggered them whether he wanted it to or not. White arms and wings appeared in a flash, arms pulling the kirin backwards and wings enfolding him as a shield ( ... )
