Okay, at You-Know-Who's urging, I am going to post some names.  I will warn you that the list is long, and I don't expect comments on every single name.  Perhaps you can tell me the names you hate and any that you like or even love.  Some of these will be repeats that we discussed at camp.  (By the way, thanks for making me feel so very welcome at ( Read more... )

No: Severin, Patton, Soren, Alistair, Collier, Anderson, River; Chapin, Geneva, Larkin, middle name Sol.

Yes: Abraham, Julian, Henry Kai, Oscar (though this has the built-in Muppet association), Ronen; Devin Kai, Lilly/Lillian, Sabine, Rowan, Nina, Vivian.

Personal favorites: Julian (Kai?), Nina, Sabine, Ronen, Lilly.

Hope you made the drive back down safely! Driving 91 to 95 into CT was pretty easy for us.

Oscar
Isaac

Girls
Alice
Gillian (though I like it with a J best *grin*)

Okay, I'm biased those three names being family names for me :)

Names I like: True (don't know why, but I do), Alistair (always was a sucker for a Proper English Name), Isaac; Alice (is my mom's name), Gillian, Erin, Iris. Name for a girl I happen to like, although it's spelled oddly and no one will know how to pronounce it: Siobhan (pronounced Shevaun).

Names I really don't like: River (too popular), Anderson (is a last name, in my head), Abraham (too Biblical), Oliver (don't know why), Severin (too Harry Potter), Geneva (Geneva is either the name of a town or a spirituous beverage), Marina (is a place to moor your boat), Weston (no good reason, although it's the name of a prominent Massachusetts town).

I'll skip the rejects, except to say that I like some of them (Grayson is one I like, for no good reason); you've presumably rejected them for reasons of your own.

I'm sure this helps not at all, but if you ask for my opinion, you must be prepared to get it :-)

well, since you asked onemintjulep July 27 2007, 00:08:42 UTC
Oscar...coincidence? I don't think so.

And Jesus Christ, who even put Atticus on the 'maybe' list? I think you need to put this in spreadsheet format as god intended so we can just do this checklist style: "cute, maybe, gay, hooker, hooker, dogname, grandma, hooker, harrypotter, dirtyhippy, gay..." houseboi and I were at the Panera yesterday stealing bandwidth for his Precious and decided that you really need to just spend an afternoon there listening to people getting called over the loudspeaker to come get their sandwiches. I suppose that's the younger equivalent of me scanning the old people's names at the hospital. What's wrong with Hazel ( ... )

Ok, so I've attempted a ghetto poll for you over on my LJ. Tell me what you think.

Were you talking about the one I suggested? Colton?

What a great list! I've never heard of some of those names. And some of them are already favorites of mine! Now I have even more to think about... Thanks!
