It always sounds like a great idea to throw a party. It sounds like a great idea until you actually do it. We're throwing a party in 36 hours. I am not the most gracious of hostesses. I don't even like going to parties, much less throwing them. I would like to be a party planner for other people, and then leave before any of the guests actually arrive. I have the family disorder of strongly disliking people in general. Yes, these invitees are my friends, but still. Not only are we throwing a party, but it's a theme party. "The L Word" was released on DVD last week, so we preordered our copy, sent out our invitations, prepared L Word soundtracks as party favors, made L Word themed gifts as prizes for trivia questions... We stopped short of recreating the "six degrees of separation board" - could get ugly. And did I mention this is a weekend affair? Yes, this people hating girl has invited 23 people to spend the entire weekend. Sounded good a couple of months ago. Of course, I too late realized that I have never had an indoor party at this house. It's not exactly conducive to mingling. Great house for outdoor parties. But, this being November, and this party supposedly revolving around watching DVDs, that's not going to help me much this time. Good thing I'm making Cosmos! I think I'll have one now...
