Grabbed a handful of movies off the shelf at the library yesterday. One of them is Gregg Araki's Mysterious Skin, because I'm generally on board with anything that has Joseph Gordon-Levitt in it. I'm about 40 minutes into it, and I can't tell what I'm likely to think about it at the end. It's not the kind of movie that you're supposed to like, and I doubt I will, but it's interesting enough to hold my attention and so far it's much more cohesive than Araki's other films.

That said, I thought I'd post an FYI:

Do not watch this movie if you're triggered by anything ever.

ETA: Just finished it. There was one scene I couldn't watch at all, just had to fast-forward through it. And the last three minutes were a misstep, I think -- the right idea, but executed with no subtlety whatsoever. But the twenty minutes before that were just jaw-dropping in about eight different ways, and both Brady Corbet and Joseph Gordon-Levitt (the latter particularly) are starkly mesmerizing. I'm glad I watched it. But my FYI? Completely stands.
