Maybe I'm on Nobody's Side...

I am so thrilled with the fact that since the beginning of August, I have gotten 10 new friends. I'd like to give a warm welcome to the two latest arrivals: cassielsander and angryjonny . I found cassielsander through iharthdarth  and fell in love with his icon so I just knew I had to friend him (EDIT: sorry about using the improper pronouns initially). angryjonny came from jo_chan  via metaquotes (if you haven ( Read more... )

Sarcasm is incredibly difficult to get across in a text format like LJ or instant messengers. I've had misunderstandings crop up more than once because I had to be clever with some snide comment that was taken completely the way I had not intended. I think all that matters is if the person who asked for your opinion really cares. If they don't then there is no reason for random person to criticize you for your sense of humor or honesty (whichever the case may be)

On a side note, thanks to your icon I am going to have the llama song stuck in my head all day.

I'll second this. Also, because we're in a fairly anonymous forum, it can be difficult for a random LJ'er to know exactly what type of friendship you have with a person. I, for one, am a bit of a sarcastic prat and make no illusions of being otherwise when I'm commenting on a friend's blog. If I'm using this icon, chances are that I'm joking :)

Basically, tell the person to breath and calm down. If that doesn't work, you could always posted the horrifically insensitive "arguing on the internet..." image!

And hey, thanks for the plug :)

HA! I love your icon. ^_^

As for what you've actually ASKED about, I'd go with Beldar and just not worry about it.

However, if you are inclined to worry about it anyway, I'd say that perhaps in the first place the person was well intentioned and may have missed the joke, but after it was explained and subject of said joke was FINE with it, then the other person needs to go "Oh, okay then. Peace."

Or somesuch similar.

I'm not really worried about it I just know that I can come across as tactless and rude sometimes and I was trying to get a feel whether I was totally out of line here or not. I mainly care because I don't want to accidentally hurt or offend someone I care about. Also, it helps me in my professional life as well.

I really appreciate your input.

wow! I think that wins vs all of the "bitch please" banners I've seen out there. At this point no amount of "get out of hell free" cards are going to save me from my toasty fate. That thing is just hilarious.

Coincidentally, if you like laughing at people who argue on the internet then Fandom Wank is the place to do it.

I think you comment sounded quite funny and I'm sure if somebody said that about a picture of me, I'd piss myself laughing.

Some people are just oversensitive and/or looking to make a big deal out of the slightest thing. I can't imagine the average person being offended by what you said.

You insensitive cow. ;)
