I am so thrilled with the fact that since the beginning of August, I have gotten 10 new friends. I'd like to give a warm welcome to the two latest arrivals:
cassielsander and
angryjonny . I found
cassielsander through
iharthdarth and fell in love with his icon so I just knew I had to friend him (EDIT: sorry about using the improper pronouns initially).
angryjonny came from
jo_chan via metaquotes (if you haven't read his
Guide to Despotic Fashion, you should). I'm so happy to have you both with us.
Life's still boring. Packing yesterday, packing today. Tomorrow we get to go see the youth production of "Chess". This is a big favorite of mine as well as
beldar and I'm really hoping that they cast it well. I'd hate so see it screwed up. BTW, I gave the soundtrack to
beldar for our first Valentine's Day together (aww!).
Now for something completely different, I'd like to discuss a matter with you folks and get some opinions on it.
One of my friends recently changed his icon (to an actual pic of himself reminiscent of a member of ZZTop) and opened up the floor for commentary. I responded with "My eyes! It burns!". His sis replied back in the playful manner I had meant this comment to be taken in and then I was immediately chided by someone I've never heard of for being meanspirited and rude. I was in no way more mean-spirited or ruder than the person who posted below me "Next time you should tell the photographer to get your good side." However, they were not harrassed and I was. Above said sis tried to talk the offender down but it didn't help the situation. Frankly, when I told
beldar about this last night he told me to tell them to "blow me", I told them to play in their own little pink fuzzy world and I would stay in the real one and that if they would stay out of my world I would not dare to invade theirs. They pouted mercilessly at this suggestion. I'm pretty sure this person is the result of the whole "self esteem is more important than knowledge" way that the education system is going. I don't feel that I was rude and I don't feel that I should have been told so either way by anyone other than the owner of the journal I was commenting in. If they had deemed the comment inappropriate and I had disputed their decision, then by all means others should join in the discussion. However, I feel that I was not out of line and this person was. I'd really like people's opinions on this. I'd post a poll but I'm still a free account. So I turn it over to you, my readers and friends. Discuss...
TTFN!
