I'm Not the Girl You Think I Am ...
So, in case anyone forgot I am competing in the new season of LJ Idol. Our first topic is to write an introduction.
Honestly, most everything there is to know about me is listed in my interests. However, the biggest question from new people is where did my username come from. Therefore, here is the story of my username and default icon:
First of all, the icon is a jedi chicken. That's a lightsaber she's holding and not a sword. I can't remember who exactly drew it but when I found it I knew I had my icon.
Now as for the story behind the name. When we lived back in Arkansas, one of the little towns we lived in was Stuttgart (the Rice and Duck capital of the world). It was over 40 miles to anything decent or even resembling a real town so we would commute out of there to civilization every chance we got. Late one night as we were coming back from Little Rock, we were passing through the town of England (a strange little place that just crawls with Cthulhu feelings) when we saw a sign at their quick-e-mart. It read, "Dark Snack $1.95". beldar looked over at me and said in a deep resonant voice, "Beware the power of The Dark Snack". We both lost it and kept making up little Dark Snack quotes and it just never stopped.
When I joined the local Star Wars fan club, The Indy Knights, I needed a sign in name for the message boards and since everyone had Star Wars themed ones my usual default didn't sound Star Wars-ish enough I chose The Dark Snack. Everyone loved it.
Then when I started my Live Journal, my preferred default wasn't available so rather than make some strange variant on it, I decided that since I found my chicken icon, I would be the_dark_snack and the rest is history. As you can tell, I've become partial to Star Wars themed icons. Especially those based on iharthdarth's comics.
In the past year, a certain Doctor has drawn my favor away from Star Wars quite a bit but I think that no matter what, I will always remain the_dark_snack.
