Weekend update: I am way behind on F-list reading (as usual). One of these days I will get a computer that can do something and be able to really go online at home.
Friday - met up with
beldar and we went to Broad Ripple (the artsy-farsty neighborhood) and picked up tickets to see George Thorogood in concert on July 25th at The Vogue (it's a great little place and we've see wonderful shows there). We ran a few errands and had dinner at a new Mexican place which seemed extremely expensive but had a few really great bargains on their menu. They lost a lot of points for not understanding what "no lettuce, tomato or onion" means. Luckily I had planned to give
beldar by taco or else I would have been really pissed. That evening I watched "Bright, Young Things". The film is great, the cast is amazing and David Tennant should never have a mustache.
Saturday we did a bit of cleaning. I finally got
beldar to hook up the VCR so we spent a significant portion of the day taping off of the DVR. We now have a tape of concerts and the making of "Wig in a Box" (a Hedwig and the Angry Inch tribute album) as well as a few of "The Canterbury Tales". I also had the indignity of finding out that England screwed up my World Cup pool by losing to Portugal. Damn it! I thought I had finally backed a winner.
Sunday was spent getting all of the episodes of "Viva Blackpool" onto tape. Now I just have a few more things to transfer over (hopefully Tuesday) and I'll be done. That evening we went to the show as planned and had a great time. After the show we went to
Datsa Pizza for dinner. It was great! we had the Datsa Big Ugly with black olives instead of onions and since they ran out of anchovies while making it, they threw on a few mushrooms to balance things out. OMG! it was good. we had a lovely meal and we had enough for lunch for the both of us today. I can't wait to go back and try a calzone or another pizza.
Now for the big drama of the weekend: Saturday afternoon, we got another call from our the Con Chair regarding the LARP (
here's the background on this matter for anyone not up to speed). Well, it seems that the person who we talked to was not actually the Storyteller but one of his helpers and he is now advertising that the LARP will be con-wide all night on both Friday and Saturday rather than 4 hours on Saturday entirely within one room. He's also advertising that the convention invited them to run this game (far from it) not that it was thrust upon us at the last minute. His group got away with this shit at Starbase only because a certain bitch on the concom forced them upon us (this fact was the major contributer to my siezure and I do not intend to repeat that ordeal). This little stunt caused our Con Chair to agree with us that they are perhaps not an asset to the convention with this attitude and pull the plug on the whole thing. However, we got an email this morning saying that he had contacted the Hotel and was going to run his game anyway whether we liked it or not.
beldar sent an reply email telling him politely to back off and asking him to not pull this shit on our Convention. He copied the Con Chair so we'll see what comes of it with him and the concom. Frankly, I don't see any good coming out of this situation or this person running LARPs at the con in the future due to his incredibly unprofessional, bullying attitude.
Oh well, the convention's this weekend and I'm stoked. I have to do laundry tonight as well as some last-minute shopping and then tomorrow I've got to make cookies for the "Run for Your Life, Candyman" games, make chili for Thursday night's chili cookoff, get all of the games together for the weekend, get some taping done, dye my hair again, as well make something for and go to a 4th of July party that our Oasis host's partner is throwing (vacation - what's that?).
That's it for now. Probably no posting tomorrow due to the schedule.
