It's really really hot outside.....

Well, I had this in store for a while, a question asked, as if rhetorical but not so, from a confused young friend of mine. Her screen name was, "Why doesn't the president fight in the war he started?"

Because of the length, I have LJ-cut it. To continue, press

There's a couple things one has to consider.
1. President Bush didn't start the war, and if you're shocked, keep reading. The people who decided it was okay to hijack our airplanes and fly them into our towers started the war... or did everyone forget about September 11th 2001?
1.a The current president at the time, Bush, responded soundly with a military answer, as would ANY BODY would do.
1.b We bomb'd those who were responsible, but many got away.
1.c There is a massive man search for those responsible.
1.c.I We have captured or killed many of the heads
1.c.II We have captured Sadam Hussein, and he will be put on trial in about two months.

Why doesn't the President participate in battle?
2. Well, considering he is the Commander and Chief, he just can't be on the battlefield. He can give orders from a remote location. Times have changed, compared to when generals on horseback lead musket-wielding soldiers into battle.
2.a Why not? If George W. Bush or any former presidents were captured, they would be tortured for information that could compromise security and possibly kill a lot of Americans, soldier and civilian.
2.b If George W. Bush was killed in combat, the America government would have to fall back to Vice President Dick Cheney. We would all love that, right?

3. Why Iraq?
3.a For as long as some can remember, we ALWAYS had problems with Iraq. It was trouble to begin with even before the two Bushes stepped up to become President in their respective times. Many people's opinions vary concerning Iraq. That's okay. Iraqis have opinions too. Iraq, as in the collective people whose opinions and views included destroying American or its ideas, and who ACTED upon them, is/was a liability. Having put those specific people down puts both civilian populations at ease... or so one might think.

3 1/5 Where are the Bombs? The Weapons of Mass Destruction that Bush said were in Iraq?
3.5a If you have something to hide, and someone was coming to see you, wouldn't you try to hide it? Likely, you would hide it all in a place nobody would discover. Yeah, exactly. You would. The Iraqis saw American coming through the door, and they zipped around hiding or destroying evidence before time was up. Ever heard of the expression, "caught with our pants down?"
3.5b The bomb casings? Well, one would guess they didn't have enough time to hide everything. This was merely a clue that they were trying stuff out. Because of the limited evidence, we have just a little to go on before we can play Dick Van Dyke in Diagnosis Murder. We know they were playing with something, we don't know the entire story to what with they were playing.

4. Why Afghanistan?
4.a Basically... that's where Osama was hanging out and where the Tali-ban was ruling. Allied forces stepped in with a miltary answer.
4.b The Tali-ban WAS NOT a club where the craziest of chicks chilled every night; no, it was a suppressive government system, in which one feature was that women were repeatedly abused for the slightest of things. I think everyone has heard about those malevolent things, so I won't delve into that any further.

5. How about the troops? I have a [insert relation] over in [insert hostile overseas location.]
5.a War has always been a part of human life, and to say the contrary would to be ignoring the thousands of years of conflict up to this point. It's a really sorry state of affairs. The human nature propels a person to do anything, even the stealing of resources, the taking of women, the killing of people, the misuse of spiritual concepts, the mishandling of children and even murder on a colossal scale. Every human being, including me and you, has this nature, but also, we have what's called Self-Control. Self Control helps us control the urges and suppress the desire to do wrong. Hey! We're getting somewhere.
5.b When human beings conflict over resources, women, et cetera, they can often engage in what some call "war." Yes, it's a terrible terrible thing.
5.c When "war" happens, forces to to deal with an enemy are summoned. This includes the men and women who volunteered to join any of the military branches of a nation with a government. This also may bring about whats called, a "draft." A draft is when the miltary calls all able body men [and now women] to arms. They are to join the nearest recruitment store for immediate training and assignment. If one fails to join, they are sent to prison.
5.d I have a friend in the reserves, and thinking of him going to Iraq/ Farfaraway-istan is really really scary. I also have a distant second-cousin who... is like MIA either in the states or overseas. We just don't know where we is.

6. What can I do for [insert relation] who is stationed in [insert remote location.]
6.a Pray, lots and lots of praying. Even if you have no spirituality to speak of, there are not many alternatives.
6.b Send letters, send care-packages, cards, pictures, kevlar, or what ever comes to mind.

7. Conclusion.
7.a If you made it this far without scrolling away in anger, you voted for the right candidate.
7.b Why can't President Bush fight in the war he started?
::: The man did not start the war, he is trying to finish it. The war was already going on when we went to Iraq. If there is another country in the near future that he deems as a place of suicide-bomber terrorists and ideologies as bad as Hitler's, he's not starting it, he's finishing it. Doesn't it makes sense to finish something, to close the book on something, when it has the chance to kill lots and lots of people?

I hope that answers a great deal of questions anybody has. If anyone has anything to contribute, positively, please respond. If you have a question or concern, please email me, but any angry complaints will be ignored. Any insults posted on LJ will be promptly be erased. There are A BIG TIME number of opinions concerning the issues presented in what is above. I understand there are a lot of sore feelings concerning the war and our troops over there. If you want to discuss them, please use manners and proper netiquette. Now, feel free to comment.
