If anyone's wondering what I do when I'm not doing anything, well, I watch movies on my PC -especially those that I missed to see in the big screen because I'm always doing something.
So to catch up and bring the cinema experience to my desk, I've customized my desktop into what I'd like to call "Theater Mode". But really, In Windows 7, It's just a theme, plus a couple of tweaks with ObjectDock.
First, I made a wallpaper in Photoshop to give my desktop the look and feel of a movie house, as close as it can get. Then I prepared a new objectdock with four custom icons.
The first dock icon is a movie seat. When clicked, it runs the ASUS Control Deck where I can adjust screen brightness and speaker volume plus other system properties.
The second is a projector icon that brings up a stack of media applications or players installed on my machine.
The third one is a film reel which lets me pick movies from my library.
But what's a movie if you ain't got food to enjoy it with? So my last icon, a popcorn tub, gives me direct links to fastfood and restaurant delivery sites so I could order away! Yay!
Lastly, for a seamless look, I got BSPlayer Free Edition which lets me play videos without window borders. Here, you see how the movie fits right onto the wallpaper :D
