Gone, but Not Forgotten?

Hello Internet. Remember me?

In a way, it's kinda silly that I've let my LJ go this quiet for this long. Months ago, I assessed the situation and realized that all I ever write about anymore is how crappy the job situation is. I can't speak for the rest of my audience, but I know I was boring myself  to death...

Anyway, stuff is finally starting to happen in the life of Yours Truly that doesn't encompass how unproductive a member of Haligonian Society I am. Probably the most significant (and positively frightening) new development is the decision to go back to school in the fall. I'll be attending the new and swanky Centre for Arts and Technology taking a 24-month intensive program(!) for 3D Game Animation. The positively frightening aspect of this haphazard plan weighs in at the tune of thirty. thousand. dollars.

Needless to say, I haven't been stashing cash in increments that large over the five years since last I paid for an education, so my only recourse is to deal with a Devil that I know damn well is going to screw me over and bleed me for every penney they can justify (and several more that they won't bother trying to).

Congratulations, Student Loans. You got yourself a customer.

My only defense against their historically blatant grand larceny will be attempting to keep better paperwork than they do. From talking to others who've had the pleasure of doing business with the honorable SL, it seems that task will be akin to beating a three-toed sloth at a getting-out-of-bed competition.

Can't wait to see how this one turns out...

Nonetheless, I am genuinely excited about getting some training in a field that (I believe) I would enjoy working in. The only real downside is that there aren't a whole lot of opportunities for the game-developing workforce in the HR of M, but maybe (fingers crossed) that will change by the time I get my diploma.

The other life-altering news of the hour is that Liz and I will be moving into a place over in Halifax in May so that she can be a suitable distance from her workplace and we can generally have some space to call our own. The landlord is a nice guy, the place is not in sketchville, and it's actually a pretty nice apartment.

Pizza, beer, and sexual favors (although I'm not at liberty to say which ones) to anyone willing to lug some furniture on our behalf :)

That's all for now. I hope this entry is a sign that I'll actually be a bit more conversational with my LJ in the future...

Whatever the case, stay classy ;)
