First lines!

Your choices for the first line of The Life and Surprizig Adventures of Mirandor are:

1. I confess that though difficult to write I must approach this text with much as much candour as may be safely mustered without giving it the air of a Weighty Tome of some antecendant of Plutarch.

2. My Mother was born rich and my Father poor; but by the Time they met one another both of their Fortunes had been reversed.

3. I was born, dear Reader, in one of the finest and most famous cities in Holland.

4. My Name, dear Reader, is Mirandor, and in the Course of what follows, I shall endeavour to acquaint you with the more than remarkable Conditions of my life.

5. I was born - so I am told - in a small and dismal Town named Sint-Amandus.

6. My parents had long prayed for a son, but for years their prayers went unheard, as they had produced daughter after daughter; you may imagine the celebrations that accompanied my birth, and caused them to give me the name Mirandor.

7. To begin with my conception would be Affectation, with the coming of my Benefactor trite.
