Various things

My online buddy seawasp correctly points out that this joke school curriculum would be a damn good idea.

I'm somewhat waiting for the new Warehouse 13, second season premieres tonight. But I'm really REALLY hoping that my copy of The Fuller Memorandum (Charles Stross! In funny mode!) will arrive today. Mind you, that book and that tv series could easily share a universe. The Warehouse crew (except Artie, of course) just doesn't know it yet.

There's also Gateways, an anthology where Fred Pohl's friends (I.e., most major sf writers of the last couple of decades) get to play in his universe.

Our family vacation is being held at home, which is going pretty well so far. Much heavier on the "get caught up on stuff" than the original beach plans, but the beds are comfortable and we have all our books on hand.

Thursday will be a marathon session of donating my dad's household goods to charity. Which is hard physical and emotional work, but has to be done. It's a major step toward selling the house and getting out from under THAT burden of long-distance property management, too. He's actually doing pretty well, he's just frail enough physically that he needs an assisted living home. And we have a nice one, in easy range of the grandchildren. Somehow that doesn't entirely cancel out the psychic shock that the family home base of 30 years is about to be first empty, then someone else's place entirely.
