The menu around here is like Taco Bell--lots of varieties of a tortilla with meat and cheese.

Bran's been hard at work at dinner, after the last two weeks of basically slacking off (not that there weren't good reasons for that, and everyone who wanted food still got it, but he actually likes the feeling of experimenting, finding just the right combination of ingredients, making something he would never have learned to do at home

Izzie didn't usually do the whole meal-gathering thingie but today she was hungry for something other than a little bit of fruit. She wandered into the kitchen and saw a kid cooking: fish and potatoes. Excellent.

"Hey, I'm Izzie," she said around a moutful of oysters. "Sorry I didn't ask. Starving."

"Yo, Garden Club!" Abby chirped from the door of the kitchen.

"Goth Girl! How's the cold?"

Izzie swallowed and thought better of it.

"Dude, someone from my hospital showed up the other day! Name's Callie!"

"Better. You were remarkably long-suffering about having Jean-Luc hanging around that weekend, you know. And is this a person from your hospital that we like or one we don't?" she teased.

"Expanding our menu, are we, Powder?" she teases as she comes up behind Bran and loops her arms around his shoulders

Bran makes a face at her. "I did this before, it's just been a while. And this one's better. Try some." He passes her a plate and a spoon.

"I think I will," she says, very self-importantly (and very much joking).

She takes a small bite (just in case) then adds, "Hmm, not poisonous."

"It was a close call," Bran says sagely, leaning on his elbows. "Last week it was, you know."

Ephram manages to sneak in and peers over Bran's shoulder. "Someone's outdone themselves."

[branbach]

Bran jumps a little, twisting around to grin at him. "You won't know that till you've tasted it, will you?"

Ephram grins back. "You wouldn't be looking nearly that smug if it it wasn't good." He nudges Bran's shoulder as he moves past him to the spread. "So what's on the menu tonight? I don't recognize anything."

Bran moves aside for him, leaning one elbow against the counter. "Fish," he says, peering down at it. "With fruit. Some other fruit. Potatoes with cheese." He cocks his head. "How kosher are you? I've no idea what you're supposed to be able to eat."

Will wandered into the kitchen and eyed the food as he grabbed a plate. "Looks good," he commented with a smile, helping himself to a bit of just about everything.

Bran brightens, flashing Will a grin; he leans his elbows on the counter and watches him. "What are you doing inside civilisation, hm?"

Will wrinkles his nose and grins back. "What are you talking about? This place is great--hot food, no effort, a pleasing lack of parrot on the menu..." Or whatever those birds he'd been eating had been. He takes a bite of fish, sighing happily. Why does food always taste better when someone else cooks it?

Bran makes a face at him. "I know you only love me because I feed you," he says loftily.
