Though many people believe or have believed that Luna is a crackpot who has no idea what the word logic even means, the truth is that like any Ravenclaw, she is razor-sharp in that department. It's simply that the facts upon which she bases her logic are rather different than other people's facts.

So she understands, when she is standing in front of the door to the basement, which is currently cracked part of the way open, that the doll there was probably just left by a child. There are several children young enough on the island to have such dolls, and likely some adults. Island magic usually only last a few days, and there were no other living, killer toys around.

Therefore, the doll that is staring at her right now cannot be alive.

It cannot have feelings, such as homicidal rage.

But she can still have feelings, and she does. Those feelings cause her to sink to the floor, staring back at the doll, her hands shaking wildly. Oh, she'd handled herself well enough over Halloween, but the dreams had still come for her.

She stills remembers dark hair and dark eyes, and impossibly strong arms dragging her into the darkness. It's far worse than anything she had experienced in Malfoy Manor, for at least she had known what they wanted.

A tiny sound escapes her. She sits and stares at the doll and cannot move.
