It's only been a few hours, but Auggie thinks he's finally getting a handle on things.
What he's 'seeing' is still not normal by any means, of course. He hadn't been able to see anything the night before, and now - well, now things were certainly a lot more colorful. He catches on what color sounds are to him first - and that a constant sound makes things (and people) more defined to his eyes. But the other colors - that's a different story. It takes a bit of experimenting on his part (some with Annie's help), but he eventually realizes the colors are coming from the smells of things. It's the only thing that makes sense given what he's experiencing, and why some things seem less bright than others. Almost everything has some kind of smell, and the things that don't - like the actual sky, for example - remain completely unseeable to him.
He knows, realistically, he'll probably never have enough time to figure everything about this ability out. After finding out Annie is able to do something different as well, he pretty much resigned himself to the fact this won't last very long. He's not sure how long it will, but eventually it'll be right back to how things used to be. Admittedly, he's surprisingly not bitter about it - probably (especially) because of what it did give him a chance to see. And, unexpected feelings (that he very quickly buried away and would deny even existed) aside, he knows it's something to be grateful for.
Not wasting a moment of it seems the right way to go about things, too. So he considers what he can do now with this modicum of (very strange) sight he's been given, and one thing comes to mind. A quick glance through the game closet, using both his new 'ability' - or whatever you'd call it - as well as his own sense of touch, he found the football buried near the bottom of the pile.
It's something he hasn't played since it happened. The reasoning is only partially because of his blindness and he knows it. He eventually ends up on the beach, tossing the football (which, to be honest, is more a vaguely football-shaped wispy blob of color to his eyes) up and down to himself. Though Iraq is one of the farthest things from an island paradise, it's hard not to get a little caught up in the memories surrounding the game for him, and of the people he used to play with. He can deal with these memories at least, the ones that came before everything went to hell.
He vaguely notices someone off to the side of him, though he concentrates mostly on the ball he's still throwing up for himself to catch. Still, as the person (or person-shaped blob, as he's come to know people as) gets closer, he asks, "You know how to play?"
Two is better than one with a game like this.
[OOC: Timed to late morning. Auggie has Synesthesia for any curious, which allows him to 'see' smells and sounds as somewhat wispy but shaped colors]
