Day Five and he was still there.
It had only just started to settle in the day before. Really setting in. The fact that he was trapped there. That, unless his luck did a full 180, he may never see Nora again and never even get to meet his own son or daughter or... freaky wolf cub for all he knew. All of it was a huge adjustment, or it would be when the time came and he actually allowed himself to adjust, but coming to terms with that was going to be his biggest hold up.
He was happy. Scared out of his mind at the prospect of being a father to a mutant, sure, but underneath all of that, he was looking forward to it.
And then it was all ripped away in a blink.
Maybe he shouldn't have been too surprised, considering his track record. He had it all once before: his family, a fiancee, promising academic career. That was all taken away, too, thanks to the wolf. This time, though... This time was different. And not because of the freaky magical Island aspect.
Monsters weren't supposed to have any of that, he always thought as much; they were supposed to be alone. But now, humanity supposedly fully restored (according to Aidan, but he wasn't sold just yet), he was just as alone as ever, and he felt even less whole than he did when he was something else. What was the point of being human when the person (and person to be) he would have wanted to share it with wasn't even on the same plane of existence anymore?
Since he showed up, if it wasn't for the fact that Aidan was there, attempting to get him to look on the not-so-gloomy-and-depressing side of things, Josh would have likely been rocking back and forth in a corner for the past few days, still completely convinced that he'd gone insane. Instead, though, he was seated at one of the tables in the kitchen, deep in thought, with a plate of... stuff in front of him. He assumed at least one, possibly two, of the things used to be animals of some sort. He hadn't done much eating, mostly just pushed things around on the plate, and was currently staring down at it intently, which might have given off the impression that he was trying to move it with his mind.
[Josh's public intro. Come distract the depressed former werewolf before he stares a hole in his plate.]
