Around now, back on Berk, it would have been time to start harvesting whatever the rough earth had let them grow. It wouldn't have been much, a lot of small, scrubby plants, and none of them tasty, but it would have kept them alive, and that was always worth being thankful for. The affair would have been pretty plain, a slightly larger bonfire, a lot more mead than usual, and a whole lot of carousing. HIccup, likely, would have sat in a corner with a flagon of mead he didn't want to drink, and been completely ignored.

Or maybe, this year, it would have been different. Maybe there would have been dragons in the village and he might have, at least, had a little company by the fire pit. There was no knowing, but he could at least be hopeful. Maybe Toothless would have had a hand (or talon?) in roasting the mutton.

On an island that seemed to be in perpetual spring, the gesture seemed a little superfluous, but Hiccup had always thought it a good idea to hedge his bets. Back home, they would have sacrificed one or two of their precious sheep or goats to the god, but he had a feeling that sneaking off with one of the island's goats would place a strain on even the most generous of residents. So goats were a no go, but Hiccup figured there were still ways he could show his appreciation without bloodshed and stealing. Like a seasonal fruit basket.

And that was how he found himself on the beach with a basket of fruit filched from trees and kitchen alike, in front of a small campfire, surrounded by stones with a few runes drawn on their flat surfaces. It was a pretty minimal offering, but maybe it was the thought that counted. There was no knowing with the gods.

"So, uh, Gods above. Thord, Odin. Whoever!" he spoke up to the sky. "Just wanted to say, you know, thanks for...not striking us down, or killing us. Turning me into a girl was kind of not great, but thanks for not making it permanent? So, I guess. Please accept this offering and keep up the good work?"

Just beyond the fire, Toothless lifted his head and rolled his eyes.

((If there are any former deities on the island who want to screw with him, now is the time. Open to any and all times and tags. Timed to early evening of the 24th))
