Humans were strange creatures. Such fragile, fleeting things that seemed to think that the entire universe revolved around them. It didn't, that was all to do with physics but it was also true in a way. The universe didn't revolve around them but the Endless did. Sort of. They were shaped by their thought, they were shaped by what they dreamed and desired and despaired of. The Endless changed as humanity did, as the sentient universe did. The Endless changed but most of all Delirium changed.
In the beginning humanity had needed happiness, something to get them through the long nights and into the day. They needed joy. And so, she was Delight. And then they'd stopped needing her and he had left her and she had been alone and changing and scared. Humanity hadn't needed her and she couldn't be happy anymore. So, she changed. And then she was Delirium. Now, they needed something else and she had changed. She was human.
Now, she was Del. She just didn't know who Del was. She didn't know anything about Del. Except that she loved them; Emma, Asher, Robb Stark, Molly, Rachel, her children, her mortals and friends. Except that she loved dancing and cooking and being completely in and out of control. Except that she loved fishnets. And the way Robb Stark kissed. And the fragile noise of her own heartbeat.
Maybe that was what being human was all about, small random things that added together created a whole person. Small moments and memories and people. She missed being Endless, being everywhere and everywhen at once and the chaotic noise of humanity, her mortals, roaring for her attention and of course, the responsibility. She missed all of that and yet... she was happy. She was delighted. She loved it here, she loved being human.
Delirium smiled in thought watching the sun rise, watching her beautiful Sol rise to greet the island. He had changed too, before he had been whole and golden and yellow and now he was just a burning ball of gas. No slender hands, no awkward glances and trembling lip. Just a sun. Or maybe that was just her humanity blinding her to his true glory.
"Good morning Sol," Del whispered standing and curtseying to him. Barnabas barked loudly making Del turn and narrow her eyes at him in mock annoyance. "Good morning to you too Barnabas. Did you think I forgot you? No, I did not. Nope. What shall we do today? Shall I run off and you can play hunt the mad girl?"
Barnabas snuffled, covering his nose at that as Del laughed.
"No? Oh but I like that game you get all crinkly and concerned." Del said as Barnabas gruffled his displeasure. Delirium looked down then up, grinning madly. "Or we could make a bower for Robb Stark? That's human courtship isn't it? I'm sure Dream did that for Nada. Bad comparison he put her in hell. What did he do to Ly- no wait, he spurned her too. Stick in the butt is terrible at courtship. I could make him a doggy treat. You like those maybe he will too."
Barnabas wagged his tail happily, sitting up excitedly. "Or maybe I should just make doggy treats for you. Hmmm?" Delirium scratched Barnabas's ear before she hugged him. "Okay, doggy treats first and then we will build a bower for Robb Stark. We will need to find bits of shinies and stuff and twigs so you can help me with that."
Barnabas barked, trotting off ahead of his Endless before he waited for her to catch up. Being human was hard and difficult but some days, some days it was like stars and fireworks. Del, not Delirium or Delight, liked those days. Those days made it worth it.
OOC:Catch Del making doggy treats at the compound or building a bower for Robb Stark. Great time to meet her actually as she is v.v.happy and mostly sane.
