gathering | happy birthday, (captain) america

There's an underwater city to be explored and secured in its entirety, filled with an untold number of dangers and potential resources, and though every fiber in Bucky Barnes' being wants to be down there in the dark, tonight he's outside the house he shares with Jason, overseeing a party instead. It's a silly thing, maybe, to have wanted to pull a little something together for Steve, but given that the man would've missed out on this particular birthday back home, it seemed more important than ever to set aside a bit of time to celebrate. During the war, they took breaks in the middle of more volatile missions to do the same, after all -- hell, Toro once blew their cover -- and as miserable as some aspects of Rapture have proven to be thus far, few horrors compare to the atrocities the Invaders witnessed in Europe all those years ago.

Even so, it's only with outside help that Bucky manages to get everything ready. Shari provides the cake -- complete with red, white, and blue icing -- and Rory takes care of the food. Natalia commissioned some alcohol from Ianto Jones, all the while supervising Jason and the rest of the kids when he got it into his mind that they should decorate. Peter even came out of his hole long enough to set up some fireworks, though Bucky has his doubts that the guy'll stick around. Then again, this isn't the sort of party that'll last the whole night, anyway, not with the kind of company Steve keeps.

For a few hours, though, it'll be nice just to spend it with friends and a good, hearty meal, and once the surprise has been revealed, the party, such as it is, begins in earnest.

As noted here, if you're friendly with Steve Rogers (either you've threaded with him or you're on the baseball team), you can assume Bucky grabbed a hold of you at some point to extend an invite. Open as long as needed, and the gathering is held outside Bucky and Jason's home.
